  • Patent number: 11733367
Abstract: The system and method for chromatic correlation interferometry direction finding (CIDF) used to resolve ambiguities. Ambiguities are overcome by correlating over a range of frequencies. In some cases, multiple (i.e., 2 or more) frequencies or a continuous range of frequencies are used to make a more robust correlation manifold. As the complex response manifold is frequency dependent, using a set of two or more manifolds provides a significant reduction of false peaks.

  • Patent number: 11733340
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for determining a true bearing angle from an airborne platform to a source of a radar signal. In an embodiment, a grid is generated based on a coarse range to, and angle-of-arrival of, an electromagnetic signal. The grid represents a geographic area thought to contain the emission source. A measured spatial angle is computed for each pulse of the signal received during a data collection interval. Hypothesized spatial angles are computed for a point in each grid box in the grid. A score is generated for each grid point based on the computed hypothesized spatial angles for the grid point and the measured spatial angles. The grid point having the lowest score is identified as a seed location and is used to launch a Nelder-Mead algorithm that converges on a point in the grid. A true bearing angle to the source of a radar angle is computed to the point provided by the Nelder-Mead algorithm.

  • Patent number: 11725947
Abstract: An alignment system for sensor or other electrical device filters rate data from gyroscopes and integrates the same to determine an alignment error state that is populated into a direction cosine matrix that pre-rotates measurement from a first electrical device into an estimated coordinate frame to determine a static alignment between first and second electrical devices or sensors. The system may be part of a countermeasure system on an aircraft. A first electrical device may be an inertial navigation system (INS), and a second electrical device may be an inertial measurement unit (IMU). The attitude of the IMU is used to translate the detected threats from the countermeasure system into a common reference frame of the INS.

  • Patent number: 11719822
Abstract: An underwater imaging system is carried by a submersible platform to capture images that are processed into three-dimensional images stitched together to create a 3D dimensional video at video rate speeds that are transmitted to a control unit above the surface of the water. The imaging system utilizes a high speed image sensor or camera to capture sequential gated images that are synced via a gating module to two sequential laser beam pulses. The laser beam pulses illuminate an object in each gated image. When the object is within a gate overlap region, the two images may be processed using 3D imaging techniques to generate a 3D representation of the object in the overlap region of the two gates.

  • Publication number: 20230244824
Abstract: An on-chip firewall circuit for providing secure on-chip communication is disclosed. The firewall circuit includes a configurable table of port IDs along with a configurable setting for each port ID to either provide the corresponding port ID with open access to the components of a secure enclave (SE) module or restricted access. If access is restricted, then the command is rerouted to a portion of the secure memory within the SE module, where it can be read only via a secure processing device within the SE module. The secure processing device may require additional verification of the port ID before executing the command stored within the secure memory. In this way, unsecure devices from outside of the SE module can be configured to have no direct access to any of the components within the SE module.

  • Publication number: 20230238993
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) receiver includes a transceiver, a programmable logic device (PLD), and a digitally tunable high-pass and low-pass filter bank. The transceiver is configured to receive a mission data file (MDF) specifying a plurality of RF frequencies to be tuned by the receiver and to convert the MDF into a binary file. The PLD is configured to receive the binary file from the transceiver and, based on the binary file, to transmit one or more commands that cause the filter bank to enter a selected one of a plurality of predefined filter states corresponding to one or more of the RF frequencies. In operation, the receiver receives an input signal and the filter bank dynamically filters the input signal in response to the one or more commands from the PLD.

  • Publication number: 20230231599
Abstract: Techniques are provided for a delay compensated analog beam forming network. A transceiver implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes an array of circuit elements. Each of the circuit elements includes an analog frequency converter to up-convert an analog signal to radio frequency (RF) for transmission and to down-convert an RF signal to an analog signal for reception. The circuit element also includes an analog beam weighting circuit configured to apply a beam weight to both of the analog signals to form a beam for transmission and reception. The circuit element further includes an analog delay element configured to impart a time delay to the analog signals. The time delay is based on the position of the circuit element in the array and is selected to compensate for propagation delay of the analog signals along the electrical path that couples the circuit elements of the array, reducing beam squint.

  • Publication number: 20230184494
Abstract: A transducer system comprising a housing, an electromechanical transducer within the housing, a wicking material adjacent to a portion of the electromechanical transducer, and a multi-phase coolant solution within the housing. The multi-phase coolant solution transitions from a first phase to a second phase in response to a temperature of the electromechanical transducer exceeding a threshold temperature. In some example cases, the multi-phase coolant solution has a boiling point of less than about 60° C., which effectively defines the threshold temperature. The multi-phase coolant solution may be chosen such that it remains a liquid during a first phase (cooling via conduction), and then evaporates during a second phase (cooling via conduction and convection) as the electromechanical transducer heats up.

  • Publication number: 20230178895
Abstract: A stacked patch antenna is expandable from a thinner stowed configuration in which the gaps between the conductor layers are reduced, to a thicker deployed configuration in which the gaps are expanded to their required dimensions. The expansion mechanism can include rotation of threaded rods, pneumatic expansion of telescoping rods, and/or injection of a gas, a chemical sublimate, and/or an expandable foam into the gaps. In embodiments, the stowed thickness of the antenna can be approximately equal to the sum of the thicknesses of the conductor panels. In some of these embodiments high dielectric layers are not included. In other of these embodiments high dielectric layers are formed by filling gaps with a high dielectric foam. Embodiments implement aperture coupling to the stacked patch antenna. An array of the stacked patch antennae can be folded about a satellite until deployment, and can be planar when unfolded and deployed.
