Abstract: The APPARATUSES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR HARNESSING THE ENERGY OF FLUID FLOW TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY OR PUMP FLUID include a device which, when placed in fluid-flow, harnesses the kinetic energy of the flow to generate electricity or to perform useful mechanical work such as pumping. For example, the undulating mechanical action of traveling waves along flexible fins may be harnessed by summing the varying speeds and torques along the fins into a unified circulatory system for power take-off or fluid extraction. The device may include two fins, a chassis, and bellows/pistons/rotary vanes and the like which are connected via a circulatory system of tubes or conduits.

Abstract: Lighting control systems are disclosed that have a plurality of current sensors and a microprocessor. A first current sensor in the plurality of current sensors measures a first current of a first LED channel, and a second current sensor measures a second current of a second LED channel. The microprocessor is configured to set a setpoint that defines a maximum current for a dimming profile of a lighting fixture, and control a biological light ratio according to the dimming profile. The ratio may be an M/P ratio of melanopic lux to photopic lux or an OPN5/OPN4 ratio of OPN5 lux to melanopic lux. The dimming profile correlates the ratio to a percentage of the maximum current.

Abstract: A system comprises a modulator, a time synchronization system, a satellite gateway computer, and a traffic gateway. The modulator is configured to transmit a first and a second carrier on a feeder uplink frequency to a beam-hopping-capable satellite according to a time schedule. The timing synchronization system is configured to synchronize a satellite gateway computer, the modulator, and the beam hopping capable satellite, based on the transmit time schedule and a propagation delay. The satellite gateway computer is programmed to determine transmit time schedule for the modulator, format and relay packets destined to the first and second downlink beam to the modulator to be transmitted on the first and second carrier during the first and second dwell time slot.

Abstract: A system and method for estimating calibration parameters and locating a Calibration Earth Station (CES) is described. The method may be performed offline. The method includes: providing L×M pilot signal measurements in a matrix R from L CESs and the M feed elements, wherein the matrix R comprises a set of channel coefficients c={c1, c2, . . . , cM}, and k={k1, k2, . . . , kL} perturbations; linking a subset of channel coefficients {c1, c2, . . . , cM} using each of the L CESs; and estimating a relative estimate of the k={k1, k2, . . . , kL} pertubations across the L CESs by using each of the L CESs as a bridging element. In the method, the bridging element provides a strong pilot signal for at least two of the L CESs. A set of criteria for determining locations of CESs have been described. A set of desirable properties for the solution set of L CESs have been disclosed. A combination of inner loop and outer loop methods for determining the final set of optimal locations have been described.
Abstract: Example embodiments provide a process that includes one or more of receiving an audio signal at a feedback compressor circuit, determining how much to attenuate the audio signal when a power level of the audio signal exceeds a threshold power level, combining the audio signal with an auxiliary attenuation signal from an auxiliary attenuation source and a compressed attenuation signal from the feedback compressor circuit to create a combination signal, and generating an audio output signal of the feedback compressor circuit based on the combination signal.
Abstract: Various methods for detecting moisture in briefs compatible with high volume manufacturing are disclosed. The embodiments herein facilitate protection of the method of adding moisture sensing to a diaper, but could also be used to add sensing to pads and bandages. The primary design intent is optimal moisture detection and low per unit cost. Electrodes within a garment measure electrical properties of the electrodes to determine if the item has contacted moisture. The target moisture is urine, however, other sources and types of moisture can also be sensed. Additional analysis capabilities can be added by selecting particular electrodes or add materials that may react with chemical components of the moisture. Applications of the research Include monitor of incontinence using smart brief (e.g. diaper); monitor perspiration, bleeding, or failure of the protective garment; and monitoring exposure of an item to moisture, including but not limited to inanimate items.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for adjusting the transmission power of satellite transceivers based on estimated interference. In some implementations, a satellite transceiver receives a data structure that specifies an interference compensation value for at least one frequency channel on which the satellite transceiver can transmit. The interference compensation value for the frequency channel is based on estimated interference imposed on satellite transmissions transmitted by the transceiver on the frequency channel. The transceiver receives data specifying a second transmit frequency channel to use for a second satellite transmission. A first interference compensation value for a first frequency channel and a second interference compensation value for the second frequency channel are identified from the data structure.
