Patent number: 10003701Abstract: A method for converting a facsimile includes receiving the facsimile via the public-switched telephone network, generating an enhanced portable document format (EPDF) file that includes information in addition to image information and communicating the EPDF file to an e-mail server. The EPDF file can then be communicated as an attachment to an e-mail message addressed to the intended recipient of the facsimile. A facsimile processing system includes a public-switched telephone network interface, a packet-switched network interface, a mail transfer protocol server, an input agent, a job processor and a translator. The input agent identifies and forwards the incoming facsimile to the job processor. The job processor determines when an EPDF file is desired and communicates appropriate instructions to the translator. The translator generates the EPDF file in response to the instructions and the image information from the facsimile.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2008Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: Xpedite Systems, LLCInventors: Francis Toscano, Felix Moletteri

Patent number: 10003901Abstract: In an embodiment, a mix monitor system is provided in which a stage plot of the positions of the musicians and their instructions may be supplied. Based on the relative locations of a given musician who is monitoring the mix and the other musicians/instruments, the mix monitor system may generate a mix that incorporates modifications to make the sound appear to be three dimensional. That is, the source of the sound may be experienced by the musician as if the sound is being heard from the location of the musician/instrument.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2017Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: Audio Fusion Systems, LLCInventor: Kevin R. Patent number: 10000265Abstract: An underwater vehicle may include a buoyancy control system configured to use a dual-internal-reservoir configuration to enhance efficiency of changing buoyancy of the underwater vehicle. The buoyancy control system may utilize an incompressible fluid (e.g., oil or water) that is transferred between a first internal reservoir and an external chamber to affect buoyancy of the underwater vehicle. In exemplary implementations, a compressible fluid (e.g., air) may be used to inflate or deflate a second internal reservoir. The second internal reservoir may be disposed within the buoyancy control system so that it can act on the first internal reservoir by applying a compressive force or a tensive force on the first internal reservoir, depending on the pressure differences between the two reservoirs.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2017Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: MRV Systems, LLCInventors: James Edward Dufour, Brian Kenneth Newville

Patent number: 10001968Abstract: In an embodiment, a monitor mixing system is provided in which each musician has one or more portable electronic devices (e.g. smart phones, tablets, etc.) that are programmable to select the owner of a plurality of channels of digital audio as either the musician or the band (e.g. one of the other musicians). The device may also be programmable to control the volume of the musicians own channel independently from the volume of the remaining channels, in an embodiment, and may be programmable with a master volume control as well. The plurality of channels of digital audio may be mixed according to the controls and played back for the musician over the device's audio output. In an embodiment, a simple and efficient interface may give the musician considerable control over his/her monitor mix and may free the musician to move about the stage as desired.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2017Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: Audio Fusion Systems, LLCInventor: Kevin R. Patent number: 10000960Abstract: An operator for moving a barrier between closed and open positions mounted on, or close to, the counterbalance for said barrier. The operator is connected to the counterbalance shaft and lifts the barrier by rotating the counterbalance shaft with attached cable drums and thereby takes up cable connected to the bottom of the door. There is an upper cable connected to the top of the door through a cable drum in the operator. A power spring biases the operator cable drum to always take up the upper cable, keeping it wound. The operator cable drum is connected to the motor through a clutch which when engaged allows the operator to pull the door closed. While the door is closing the clutch can be disengaged to allow the operator cable drum to take up and then pay out the upper cable connected to the top of the door as needed.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2016Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: RMB Systems, LLCInventors: Ralph Carl Angiuli, Bradley Lee Lightner, Mark Adam Bullock

Patent number: 9999792Abstract: A dual air vent allows air or gas to be vented from a wet pipe fire protection sprinkler system, but inhibits water from spilling out. A conventional first air vent valve is operative to vent air or gas as a pipe is filled with water, but not vent the water. However, it may discharge a small amount of water when the pipe fills and substantially all air or gas has been vented. The output of the first air vent valve is not released into the protected premises, but rather is routed to a reservoir having a second air vent. Air or gas is vented through the second air vent, but any water discharged by the first air vent valve is retained in the reservoir. The reservoir is connected to the pipe by a one-way valve which allows air flow in either direction, and allows water flow from the reservoir to the pipe, but blocks water flow from the pipe to the reservoir. When the pipe is again drained, water retained in the reservoir is allowed to flow into the pipe, where it is also drained.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2016Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: South-Tek Systems, LLCInventors: Scott Christian Bodemann, Timothy S. Bodemann

Publication number: 20180167133Abstract: Techniques are described for implementing adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) in regenerative satellite systems to adapt the modulation and/or FEC coding of transmitted waveforms to the conditions of the link. In a first implementation, ACM is implemented on an uplink from a terminal to a regenerative satellite. In this implementation, an uplink modulation and coding combination (ModCod) is estimated by the transmitting terminal based on the quality of signals received from the regenerative satellite on the downlink. In a second implementation, ACM may be implemented on a downlink from a regenerative satellite to a terminal. In this implementation, a transmit terminal may insert a field in a transmitted packet header that indicates a downlink ModCod to be used by the regenerative satellite when transmitting packets to a receiving terminal. The regenerative satellite may reencode and remodulate the packet using the ModCod indicated in the field of the packet header.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2016Publication date: June 14, 2018Applicant: Hughes Network Systems, LLCInventor: George Choquette

Patent number: 9998346Abstract: An analytics and diagnostic node according to the present disclosure monitors oversubscription and determines flow metrics by receiving mirror command frames from one or more switching nodes. The mirror command frames could correspond to a multiple flows traversing over a connection within a network. The analytics and diagnostic node collects at least one latency metric for each of the flows using timestamps found within the mirror command frames. Based on the latency metrics and timestamps, the analytic diagnostic node determines an average data rate for each of the flows. The analytics and diagnostic node also computes the cumulative data rates corresponding to different bucket intervals based on the average data rates. To detect oversubscription, the analytics and diagnostic node compares the cumulative data rates with one or more oversubscription rules.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2016Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Brocade Communications Systems LLCInventors: Gokila Thirumoorthy, Sathish Kumar Gnanasekaran, Kumar Ghanta
