Abstract: Systems and methods for enhancing aircraft performance are provided. In one example, a method can include accessing an initial model that defines operating cost of an aircraft at a series of model operating states. The method also can include identifying one or more sample operating states for analyzing aircraft cost during flight. The method also can include receiving one or more real-time flight performance parameters indicative of aircraft operating cost while the aircraft is operating at the identified sample operating states. The method also can include generating an updated model that defines operating cost of the aircraft using the initial model as well as data defined by the real-time flight performance parameters. The method also can include determining an enhanced operating state based at least in part on the updated model and outputting the enhanced operating state for control of the aircraft.

Abstract: Techniques for dynamically cloning application infrastructures are provided. In one embodiment, a computer system can monitor one or more metrics pertaining to an infrastructure for an application at a first site. If the one or more metrics exceed or fall below one or more corresponding thresholds, the computer system can clone the infrastructure at a second site distinct from the first site, thereby enabling the application to be hosted at the second site.
Abstract: A fuel holding device is secured to a vehicle by means of straps and brackets, which sits on a system of gaskets to prevent longitudinal sliding and rotation. A gasket system for preventing longitudinal sliding is disposed circumferentially around the tank body, and between the tank body and a circumferential bracket system that includes a U-shaped strap and an L-shaped bracket. The gasket system comprises a wedge-shaped base and a slider portion, with the U-shaped strap secured around the slider portion. A system for preventing rotation of a fuel-holding device has a circumferential wedge gasket segment, or a corrugated segment, positioned at a gap between the U-shaped strap and the L-shaped bracket.
Abstract: A multimode system for receiving data in a retail environment includes: a secure input module for receiving high security input and low security input from a customer, the high security input to be communicated by the secure input module in cipher text, and the low security input to be communicated by the secure input module in plaintext. The multimode system is adapted to operate in a high security mode and a low security mode. The multimode system is adapted to enter the low security mode upon detection by the multimode system of a security breach condition. In the high security mode, the secure input module accepts low security input and high security input. In the low security mode, the secure input module accepts the low security input and does not accept the high security input.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating port mirroring in virtual networks are provided. In one embodiment, a computer system can receive, from a user, port mirroring configuration information for enabling port mirroring within a virtual network, the port mirroring configuration information including an identity of a port to be mirrored and an address of a traffic receiver intended to receive traffic mirrored from the port. The computer system can further power-on a virtual machine (VM) within the virtual network in response to receiving the port mirroring configuration information, where the VM executes an instance of a virtual bridge. The computer system can then transmit one or more configuration commands to the virtual bridge, where the one or more configuration commands cause the virtual bridge to perform port mirroring in accordance with the port mirroring configuration information received from the user.

Abstract: A general ventilation and air filtration system includes an air filtration control unit that monitors and controls an air flow through an air filter and maintains the air flow at a target velocity set point. The target velocity set point is maintained by monitoring and regulating the power of a motor powering a blower that generates an air flow through the air filtration system and through the air filter. By regulating the air flow and maintaining it in the target set point, power consumption and air filter life are significantly improved.

Abstract: A novel fabric switch is provided. The switch includes a tunnel management apparatus that maintains a local inter-switch tunnel and an inter-fabric tunnel. The local inter-switch tunnel facilitates communication to a switch in a local fabric switch. The inter-fabric tunnel facilitates communication to a remote fabric switch. The switch further includes a packet header management apparatus that decapsulates a packet received from the local inter-switch tunnel and encapsulates the packet with a new tunnel header for transmission over the inter-fabric tunnel.
Abstract: A fitness bar catch includes a first side plate, a central plate perpendicular and adjacent to the first side plate, a second side plate perpendicular and adjacent to the central plate and parallel to the first side plate, a stud extending perpendicular from the second side plate, a bar rest extending from the second side plate, and a safety mechanism extending from the first side plate. The safety mechanism may be engageable to prevent lateral movement of the fitness bar catch relative to a vertical support member.
Abstract: Maintenance of reliable and highly available electronic systems to perform servicing and preventive maintenance may need to be performed without interruption of operations. Removal of circuit cards from a chassis may render the connectors on a chassis vulnerable to inadvertent short circuiting of power sources by stray metallic objects. A configuration where the power is removed from a connector as the circuit card is being extracted eliminates his possibility. The control circuits for the power supply connections and the power supplies are themselves redundant so that they may be similarly serviced.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a tachometer signal from a vibration sensor is disclosed in which an approximately idealized band pass filter is used along with a fast Fourier transform (FFT) to create a sufficient analytic signal to derive the tachometer signal for a shaft or other rotating component. In addition, jitter in the generated tachometer signal, or any tachometer signal, can be reduced by using an approximately idealized low pass filter and then transforming the filtered signal using a real FFT. These processes can be performed using a smart vibration sensor, which facilitates improved vibration analysis on rotating equipment where in the past the addition of a tachometer would be prohibitive due to cost, weight, certification requirements, or physical impracticality.

Abstract: An imaging system, method, and computer readable medium filling in blind spot regions in images of peripheral areas of a vehicle. Intrinsic or extrinsic blind spot data is used together with vehicle movement data including vehicle speed and steering angle information to determine one or more portions of a series of images of the peripheral areas that include or will include one or more blind spot obstructions in the images. Portions of the images predicted to be obstructed at a future time, portions of overlapping images obtained concurrently from plural sources, or both, are obtained and used as an image patch. A blind spot region restoration unit operates to stitch together a restored image without the blind spot obstruction by merging one or more image patches into portions of the images that include the one or more blind spot obstructions.
