Abstract: A system for educational assessment without testing is provided that includes one or more client systems that are connected to a network allowing students or school officials to communicate with an education framework that performs and manages educational assessment. The one or more client systems issue a message to the education framework requesting a task to he performed. The educational assessment is administered independent of one or more educators so as to avoid interruption of instruction time. A server system receives the message and the education framework proceeds to process the contents of the message. The education framework includes a plurality of programming modules being executed on the server system that provides to educators specific information used for the educational assessment based on the contents of the message.

Abstract: An optical element for use with a white LED to absorb blue light and re-emit warmer light is made of an admixture of an optically transmissive polymeric material, a first luminescent compound that predominantly absorbs light at wavelengths between 380 nm and 580 nm and predominantly re-emits light at wavelengths between 620 nm and 740 nm, and a second luminescent compound that predominantly absorbs light at wavelengths between 380 nm and 490 nm and predominantly re-emits light at wavelengths between 495 nm and 590 nm. The optical element, which may be a lens for defracting light into a desired beam pattern, eliminates substantially all blue light emitted from the white LED and re-emits a warmer light having a color temperature below 3000 Kelvin and a color rendering index (CRI) above 80.
Abstract: A magazine dispenser for loading a magazine into a gun having an opening to receive and hold at least one magazine through an opening. Once at least one magazine is inserted, a flange of the magazine is received in a track provided by a slot region in the magazine dispenser. The magazine then rests on a retention bar disposed in the track which may impede the magazine from being dispensed or support the magazine to be dispensed from the magazine dispenser depending on circumstances.
Abstract: An interface between two different optical materials can comprise a stack of thin film layers that manage light incident on that interface. One of the optical materials can have a first composition and a first refractive index, while the other optical material can have a second composition and a second refractive index. The stack can comprise thin film layers of the first optical material interleaved between thin film layers of the second optical material. The layers of the stack can be configured to provide the stack with an aggregate composition of at least one of the optical materials that progressively varies from one end of the stack to the other end. To provide the progressive variation in composition, the layers of one of the optical materials can have a progressively increased thickness across the stack, or can progressively increase in number, for example.
Abstract: A self-protecting valve assembly for use in conjunction with a sump pump test and monitoring system having a test control module which generates a valve control signal for opening the valve to initiate a test cycle. The valve assembly includes an electrically-actuated valve which is responsive only to a valve-actuating signal and not to the valve control signal. A conversion circuit in the valve assembly converts the valve control signal to a valve actuating signal to actuate the valve. This protects the valve from receiving a false actuating signal in the event of a failure in the test control module.
Abstract: A maintenance system for use with an aircraft and a method for management of a maintenance routine for an aircraft with a maintenance system comprising multiple communication terminals located physically about the aircraft and in data communication with each other, the method includes executing a maintenance software program for a maintenance routine comprising maintenance tests corresponding to components of the aircraft.

Abstract: A method and system for providing ultrasound treatment to a tissue that contains a lower part of dermis and proximal protrusions of fat lobuli into the dermis. An embodiment delivers ultrasound energy to the region creating a thermal injury and coagulating the proximal protrusions of fat lobuli, thereby eliminating the fat protrusions into the dermis. An embodiment can also include ultrasound imaging configurations using the same or a separate probe before, after or during the treatment. In addition various therapeutic levels of ultrasound can be used to increase the speed at which fat metabolizes. Additionally the mechanical action of ultrasound physically breaks fat cell clusters and stretches the fibrous bonds. Mechanical action will also enhance lymphatic drainage, stimulating the evacuation of fat decay products.

Abstract: Systems and methods for peer group diagnosis detection are disclosed. In an example embodiment, a beam profile including a plurality of satellite beam characteristics is determined. A peer group of satellite terminals is determined. Terminal profiles with terminal characteristics for the satellite terminals in the peer group are determined. A normalized baseline profile including normalized terminal characteristics for the peer group is determined. Measured operational statistics of the satellite terminals in the peer group are received and converted into normalized operation statistics using the terminal profiles and the normalized baseline profile. Normalized peer group operational statistics including a mean and a standard deviation of normalized operational statistics are determined. A normalized deviation of the normalized operational statistics is determined for each satellite terminal. The normalized deviations for each satellite terminal are compared to a threshold deviation.
Abstract: Methods for purifying air with air purifiers are disclosed. Optionally, the methods provide purified air characterized by: a TVOC content of from less than 5 ppb to about 500 ppb; and a particulate content of from about 1,000 0.3 ?m particles per ft3 to about 50,000 0.3 ?m particles per ft3, or from about 600 0.5 ?m particles per ft3 to about 500,000 0.5 ?m particles per ft3.
Abstract: An automated battery-powered backup AC power supply system for a sump pump installation of the type having a sump pump and a pump controller which connects the sump pump motor to the AC line to operate in response to a rising liquid level in the sump container. The system includes a standby battery and an inverter operable from the battery for supplying AC power to the sump pump installation in the event of AC power failure or during periodic testing of the sump pump installation. A power controller senses whether the sump pump motor is connected to the AC line by the pump controller and connects the AC inverter to the backup battery to supply AC power to the installation only when the pump is connected, thereby minimizing idle current drain on the battery and prolonging the backup availability of the system.
Abstract: When employing a multi-node computing architecture for commercial articulated vehicles to generate a composite surround view of the vehicle, each processing node is associated with a vehicle segment. Each node has its own processor, memory and sensors. A master-slave relationship exists in the architecture. The segment processors collect, format, manage and package their local information. Communication between nodes is controlled by the master node, which can limit, adjust, subsample and alter the information and information flow from the slave nodes. The slave nodes can be freely recombined, using a pre-established communication standard or a format agreed upon at combination time.
