Patent number: 8406323Abstract: In one embodiment, a transmitter converts digital input data into combined-OFDM signals and a receiver recovers data from the transmitted combined-OFDM signals. For transmission, digital data is mapped into data symbols using a commonly known modulation technique, such as QAM or DQPSK. The data symbols are subsequently divided into two or more groups according to a specified grouping pattern. Each group of data symbols is then converted into a separate OFDM subsymbol using IFFT processing. The OFDM subsymbols are then combined according to a specified combining pattern to create a combined-OFDM symbol. Combined-OFDM symbols are then prepared for transmission by affixing cyclic prefixes, converting the symbols to analog format, and performing spectral shaping of the analog signal. Upsampling may be employed to increase the signal bandwidth. In alternative embodiments, OFDM subsymbols may be combined using interleaving to create an interleaved-OFDM symbol.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2006Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Agere Systems LLCInventors: Xiaojing Huang, Darryn Lowe

Patent number: 8403519Abstract: A low voltage cable for providing low voltage power to an electrically-powered assembly, such as a luminaire fixture, and for attaching the luminaire fixture to the cable and to structure using a cable gripping device in such a way that the assembly can be adjusted. is disclosed. The cable comprises a conductive strand composed of a first metallic material, and a plurality of strength strands wound around the conductive strand, where the plurality of strength strands is of a second metallic material. The first metallic material is substantially more conductive than the second metallic material, and the second metallic material has substantially greater tensile strength than the first metallic material. This allows the cable to conduct a low voltage feed across the conductive strand, and allows the strength strands cable to mostly support the tension load particularly of a hanging luminaire fixture as well as resisting lateral compressive forces from a cable gripping device.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2009Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Griplock Systems, LLCInventors: Hugo Napier, Ryan Kwast

Publication number: 20130067851Abstract: A roof member anti-torsion bracket device includes a base plate portion having a planar base plate surface. The planar base plate surface is adapted to sit on a top plate of a wall construction and to receive a truss assembly. At least one transverse planar surface is oriented substantially transverse to the base plate surface. A locating tab extending longitudinally with respect to the base plate portion abuts an edge of the top plate, thereby locating the anti-torsion bracket device an offset distance from the edge of the wall construction top plate. The base plate portion further includes first and second fastening openings oppositely located with respect to the at least one transverse planar surface. The first and second fastening openings define first and second fastening positions in the base plate, thereby providing torsion resistance, compressive load support, and tension lifting resistance for the base plate portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2012Publication date: March 21, 2013Applicant: SR Systems, LLCInventors: Steven Zimmerman, Van T. Publication number: 20130067837Abstract: A system for constructing a residential or commercial structure and/or retrofitting an existing structure provides a series of construction components employed that cooperate with standard construction materials to enhance the building structural integrity when subjected to destructive wind forces such as those commonly associated with hurricanes and tornados. The resultant strength of the structure is increased beyond what the standard construction materials were capable of on their own. The enhanced components further cooperate with standard construction materials to provide a secondary water sealing ability such that the typical veneer coverings of siding and/or shingles, which are typically required to provide a primary sealing system from water influent to the structure, are relegated to the role of cosmetics for the structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2012Publication date: March 21, 2013Applicant: SR Systems, LLCInventors: Steven Zimmerman, Van T.
