Abstract: The present invention is directed to a tool package for use with bone and/or dental implant systems. The tool package includes of two mating tools. The first tool is designed to engage an implant and carrier assembly and place the implant into the osteotomy. Once the implant is fully seated, the first tool is removed. The second tool is placed over the implant to hold the implant securely in place. The first tool is reintroduced through the second tool to engage and remove the implant carrier. The first tool may function like screwdriver except that the tip is able to mate with and positively engage the octagonal implant carrier head and plastic o-ring catch. The first tool drives the implants into place, and also mates with the second tool to remove the implant carrier.

  • Patent number: 7958864
Abstract: Compression ignition engines and methods of the type wherein the engines operate with one cylinder used as a compression cylinder and a second cylinder used as a combustion cylinder. The engines have all cylinders configured so as to be able to operate as a compression cylinder or a combustion cylinder. In the method of operation, a cylinder may switch its operation between being a compression cylinder and then operate a combustion cylinder. Switching the operation between compression and combustion operation results in an even temperature distribution within the engine, and eliminates the need for special cooling requirements, facilitating retrofit of existing engines. Also use of an air storage tank allows all cylinders to operate as combustion cylinders for short bursts of power. Various other features are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7959540
Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating an isometric contraction exercise regimen for many subjects across a network are provided. One or more exercise constraints are developed for a subject as a function of the medical health information of the subject. The subject performs a plurality of isometric contraction exercises using exercise equipment always in the presence of a personal fitness trainer thereby producing an exercise result. The exercise equipment has a strain gauge in order to impose exercise constraints in the one or more exercise constraints. A mandatory recovery period for the subject is then imposed. During this mandatory recovery period, the subject does not perform isometric constraints exercises. These steps are repeated using a new set of one or more exercise constraints that were refined based upon the exercise result of a previous isometric contraction exercise work out session.

  • Patent number: 7958937
Abstract: A process for hydrofracturing a specific interval or zone in a water aquifer from a water well borehole and introducing high-pressure water and gravel proppants for increasing water flow production from the water well. The process uses a hydrofracture tool having a pipe section with a pair of inflatable packers. The tool is lowered into the borehole to the deepest interval to be fraced. The packers are then inflated thus sealing off the area in the borehole above the interval. High-pressure water is then introduced through the drill stem and out a high-pressure injection port in the lower end of the pipe section. After sufficient high-pressure water has fractured the surrounding interval, gravel proppants are forced into the surrounding fractured interval.

  • Patent number: 7954472
Abstract: High performance, low emission engines, multiple cylinder engines and operating methods based on compression ignition of a combustion chamber charge. In accordance with the methods, fuel is injected into the combustion chamber after the exhaust valve closes, and air is injected into the combustion cylinder before the end of the compression stroke in an amount to limit the temperature after ignition to less than the temperature at which NOX forms. After ignition and during the power stroke, more air is injected into the combustion chamber to sustain combustion until all fuel is consumed, the air being injected so as to again limit the combustion temperatures to less than the temperature at which NOX forms. The air injected during the compression stroke is injected at substantially the same combustion chamber pressure as the air injected during the power stroke, so that air may efficiently be injected from the same pressurized source.

  • Patent number: 7955030
Abstract: Sediment control devices (SCDs) include an apertured threshold member and an apertured outflow member, and optionally a filter member between the threshold and outflow members. In some SCDs1 the outflow member has a smaller aperture size than the threshold member, or vice versa. In some SCDs, a filter is placed in front of the threshold member. In some SCDs, there is a substantially hollow sediment control chamber (SCC) between the threshold and outflow members; in others, there is little or no hollow space between the threshold and outflow members. The SCDs can be constructed so that they are resistant to damage by wheeled traffic. The SCDs can be used to control sediment in run-off from a construction site, as drain covers, or as retaining members for lawns or planting areas. A number of SCDs can be joined together to form assemblies which are useful for stabilizing a land mass, for example a gully or river bank.

  • Patent number: 7954335
Abstract: An atmospheric water harvester includes a cooling member over which humid air flows to condense moisture from the atmosphere. The cooling member may be the evaporator of a conventional, gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit. If a gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit is used, the compressor of the circuit may be variable speed. A fan or impeller used to move air through the system may also be variable speed. Preferred embodiments are reconfigurable between at least two operational configurations such that to varying degrees the incoming air may be pre-cooled, before it passes over the cooling member, by heat exchange with colder air that has already flowed over the cooling member.

  • Patent number: 7957152
Abstract: A crash-hardened memory device in which only a single electronic component, such as a memory chip, mounted on a small printed circuit board (PCB), is protected against an impact. The portion of the PCB containing the electronic component is wrapped in fire-retardant material. The wrapped PCB assembly is placed in a rigid, hardened enclosure which provides an environmental seal for the portion of the PCB containing the electronic component. A portion of the PCB extends outside of the enclosure to allow electrical connections to be made to the electronic component contained inside. A score line is created on the PCB to create an acceptable shear point between the internal and external portions of the PCB in the event of a crash. Threaded fasteners extend through and beyond both enclosure halves to provide a means for mounting the crash-hardened memory device on an external surface.

  • Patent number: 7952996
Abstract: An approach is provided for obtaining load of a terminal operating in a communication system. A query is transmitted for a cumulative load of the terminal, wherein the terminal belongs to a group of terminals having a common service level. The cumulative load for the terminal is determined based on load information supplied by the terminal and bandwidth allocation information, wherein the cumulative load represents a total amount of data sent over a communication channel of the communication system. The determined cumulative load is provided in response to the query. This arrangement has particular applicability to a satellite network that provides data communication services.

  • Patent number: 7953820
Abstract: An approach is provided for supporting retrieval of web content over a meshed communication network (111). A first server (105) receives a request from a browser application (103) for the content resident in the web server (109). The first server (105) includes a downstream proxy (401) configured to modify the request to include information specifying support of a parse and pre-fetch service within an optional header field of the request as to permit handling of the modified request by the web server (109) in absence of an upstream proxy (403) that is communicating with the web server (109). A second server (107) is configured as the upstream proxy (403) to intercept the modified request and pre-fetch the content from the web server (109). The second server (107) forwards the pre-fetched content over the communication network (111) to the first server (105). This approach has particular applicability in relatively high latency networks, such as a satellite communications system.
