Abstract: This invention relates to a container for materials, preferably scrap iron for steel production and intended to be placed on a stand in a preheating station in order that the scrap iron shall be heated up to a high temperature. The container includes an essentially cylindrical upper part and a lower part comprising openable bottom halves. The upper part of the container (1) and each bottom half (4) comprise a gas-tight shell (2;15) and a load-carrying frame-work (5,6,7,8;10,11,12,13) positioned outside the shell (2;15) and functioning as a support for the gastight shell.
Abstract: A load-sensing body for weighing machines and the like, comprising two circular plates (1, 2) and an intermediate space (15) communicating with a pressure-sensing member, an O ring-type seal being arranged between the plate circumferences, and one plate being provided with at least two open grooves (11, 12) in the opposing plate sides, the grooves being arranged at a slight radial distance from one another and facilitating axial displacement of a central plate portion disposed inside the grooves upon axial compression of the plates.Elastically yieldable portions are arranged in the load-sensing body to act between the body and loading and/or load-receiving elements for the purpose of allowing initial compression of the plates to prevent for an initial compression of the seal and subsequently allow direct load transmission to the load-sensing body.
Abstract: A liquid level indicator comprises an elongate member extending vertically through a liquid container, the weight of the member being sensed as a measure of the liquid level in the container. At least at one predetermined point of its length, the member is formed with a transverse portion having a lower surface extending substantially horizontally. Furthermore, the member is tubular, and the transverse portion is located within the tube but does not occupy the entire internal cross-sectional area thereof. To determine the absolute position of the liquid level, the indicator utilizes an instantaneous change of weight provided by the liquid.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement in a load cell comprising a core of resilient material with strain gages mounted on either side of the core and connected to recording instruments or the like. The novel features are that the core consists of a composite, that the strain gages are attached to sheets for their stabilization prior to the mounting thereof on the core, the sheets being of a material bondable to said composite, and that surface layers are likewise of a material bondable to said composite of the core and disposed on the outer sides of the strain gages.
