Abstract: Providing tamper-evident transaction data for transactions relating to a draw or game event such as a lottery or other game of chance or skill. The transactions, individually, as a whole draw or event file, or in batches, are digitally time-stamped using a cryptographic device to create digital signatures. The resulting, signed, transaction file is capable of subsequent verification to enable detection of alteration of the transaction data and the time it was processed. The efficient time-stamping occurs quickly, does not require custom software on the gaming system, and ensures transaction integrity.
Abstract: A payment system enables making purchases for a token fee. A customer is offered a choice of making a purchase at a regular price or taking a chance to make the purchase for an additional nominal fee. The nominal purchase or participation fee is determined based on the purchase price and a probability, which is calculated according to rules. The rules get established with a specific business and provide that the collected participation fees cover the cost of purchases. A random number generator system is programmed according to the rules of the method and system is used by the business. Based on the value of the random number, the system will determine if the customer was ‘lucky’ and needs to pay only the participation fee, nothing, or if the customer needs to pay the price of the goods plus the participation fee.
