Abstract: A system for uploading, showcasing and selling news footage on the internet, comprising an upload control manager configured to receive an upload request from a wireless module on a recording device, the upload request including an identification number and a plurality of FTP servers, the upload control manager configured to select at least one FTP server from the plurality of FTP servers to service the upload request and receive the recorded news footage from the wireless module. The system further comprises a database server configured to receive the news footage from the FTP servers and for showcasing the footage on the internet to allow customers to preview and purchase the footage, wherein the at least one FTP server to service the upload request is selected based upon the upload control manager determining the least loaded FTP servers amongst the plurality of servers and user privileges tagged to the identification number.

Abstract: There is provided a memory card capable of allowing a plurality of wireless communication devices to access digital files stored on the memory card. The memory card is configured to be electrically connected when inserted in a digital camera which has an inbuilt processor incapable of independently exporting digital files externally of the digital camera. There is also provided a method for allowing access to digital files on a memory card.

Abstract: A memory card is described, the memory card having a wireless transceiver module, a central processor, and a storage module. The memory card when physically and operably engaged in and with a digital camera, is configured to export digital data captured by the digital camera to a remote camera through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from an inbuilt processor of the digital camera, and receive digital data from the remote camera through the wireless transceiver module in response to an instruction received by the central processor from the inbuilt processor.

Abstract: There is provided a method for restricting access to data stored on a memory card, whereby the restriction of access relates to what is able to be carried out to the data stored on the memory card during wireless communications with the memory card. Furthermore, there is also provided a memory card which is able to restrict access to data stored on it during wireless communications with it.

Abstract: There is provided a portable data storage device with wireless functionality. The portable storage device includes a digital switch circuit for controlling a flow of data in the portable storage device; a non-volatile memory module coupled to the digital switch circuit, the non-volatile memory module being for storing data; an interface coupled to the digital switch circuit for enabling the portable data storage device to be used for data transfer with a host device; a microcontroller coupled to the digital switch circuit for controlling the digital switch circuit; and a wireless communications module coupled to the microcontroller for wireless transmission/reception of data. The microcontroller is configured to toggle amongst a plurality of discrete modes of the digital switch circuit such that in at least one of the plurality of discrete modes the digital switch circuit diverts data away from the microcontroller to reduce a processing load on the microcontroller. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

Abstract: A memory card is provided that is configured to be used in a digital camera having an inbuilt processor incapable of independently exporting digital data externally of the digital camera or independently importing digital data from externally of the digital camera. The memory card comprises a wireless transceiver module being operably connected to at least one of a central processor, and a storage module; and is configured to wirelessly receive the digital data transmitted to the digital camera and to wirelessly transmit the digital data from the digital. The central processor is configured to be instructed by the inbuilt processor via controls of the digital camera to control at least one of: the reception of the digital data by the digital camera, and the transmission of the digital data selected from the digital camera.
