  • Patent number: 7633922
Abstract: A method and system for switching between at least two different access network technologies in a mobile terminal during a packet-oriented data traffic to a destination network without interrupting an active network application or a service. An access control application is installed in the terminal. The access control application determines access networks to the destination network, which are available at the location of the terminal, monitors their availability and, while taking preset criteria into account, routes the data traffic over the respectively available access network to an access control application of the destination network and vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20090221306
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for carrying out paging in a cellular mobile communication system. A terminal is operated in a first radio cell of the mobile communication system which is in an idle state, data is provided in a data transmission device of the mobile communication system for transmission to the terminal. According to the invention, the information is first transmitted to a radio transmission device supplying the first radio cell with radio signals, whereupon a paging is carried out or initiated by the radio transmission device in order to activate the terminal and to be able to transmit the data.

  • Publication number: 20090040966
Abstract: A method for guaranteeing the quality of services in packet-switching radio communications networks. The radio access network (RAN) and the core network (CN) use the quality of service information independently of one another, without signalling individual parameters, in order to guarantee the transmission of packets in the uplink and downlink according to the quality of service. This is achieved exclusively using local settings that have been configured for individual TCLs, permitting a radical reduction in complexity compared to conventional methods. The method is further simplified by the described interlinking of different tasks or the linking of such tasks to an existing data transmission.

  • Publication number: 20080233959
Abstract: The invention at hand involves a method and an arrangement for optimizing the operational times and cell exchange performance of mobile terminals in a mobile communication network having adjacent radio cells. The mobile terminal temporarily stores network specific characteristics for adjacent radio cells which are not suitable for cell exchange when the mobile communication network is in operation and it uses said characteristics as decision criteria for cell exchange, and said information is used, in particular, to exclude said adjacent radio cells from additional radio technical measurements and identification methods. By implementing the terminal performance according to the inventive method, it is possible to significantly increase the operational times and the cell exchange performance of a mobile terminal in specific situations and to improve the service for a mobile radio customer.

  • Publication number: 20080188211
Abstract: A method for informing a subscriber of a mobile telephony network about incoming calls while the mobile telephone of the subscriber is switched off or is not connected to the mobile telephony network. The notification takes place via the mobile telephone of the subscriber as soon as the mobile telephone has re-registered itself in the mobile radio network, and the message including at least the call number of the missed caller. In the event of a calling line identification restriction (CLIR) from the caller, a message is automatically produced and sent to the caller, by which means the caller is prompted, by a dialogue, to temporarily release the call number transmission for the call, such that the call number of the caller can be communicated to the subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20080171531
Abstract: A method for the location-dependent and/or distance-dependent charging of telecommunication services in a mobile communication network, where the network includes several radio cells, each of which covers a certain service area and is supplied with radio signals by at least one associated base transceiver station. An individual, guaranteed subscriber area describing an area around a predefined geographical location is allocated to a subscriber. An actual subscriber area is formed with which all radio cells or parts of radio cells whose service area overlaps with the guaranteed subscriber area are associated. Telecommunication services used are charged at a special rate when the subscriber is located in the actual subscriber area.

  • Publication number: 20080057928
Abstract: A method for setting-up a data connection during a group voice service between several group members as a user of a mobile communication network. In a first method, functions of an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) are used and a session initiation protocol (SIP) and a controlled data connection between an emitter, a terminal and one or several receivers is produced. Each user is allocated to a group voice service identity (VGCS-ID) an IMS group identity (IMS group ID) and is routed to an application server in the IMS with the aid of the user. A data group voice service is developed between the users. In a second method, each user is routed to the service nodes via GPRS using a group voice service identity (VGCS-ID) and an IP address of a service node, which acts as a relay and a data group voice service is carried out between the users.
