  • Patent number: 11925835
Abstract: A direct-drive bicycle training system and methods of using the same are provided. The system includes a bicycle trainer that rests on a support surface and supports a bicycle frame in an upright manner with respect to the support surface. The bicycle trainer includes a stator, a rotor that rotates with respect to the stator, a cassette affixed to the rotor, a support frame supporting the stator, rotor, and cassette, and a resistance applying mechanism that operatively couples to a portion of a drivetrain of the bicycle frame and applies varying levels of resistance to the portion of the drivetrain. The support frame moves with respect to the support surface in response to a force applied to the drivetrain of the bicycle frame during use of the bicycle training system, generating a more natural movement of the bicycle and simulating on-road use.

  • Patent number: 11351413
Abstract: A bicycle training system and methods of using the same. The system includes a movement platform that rests on a support surface and supports a bicycle in an upright manner with respect to the support surface. The movement platform includes a support frame having a base and at least one upstanding arm that supportably engages a portion of a frame of the bicycle, a resistance assembly operatively coupled to a portion of a drivetrain of the bicycle that applies varying levels of resistance to the portion of the drivetrain, and a plurality of bushings isolating the base from the support surface. The plurality of bushings are spherical thereby permitting the movement platform to move with respect to the support surface in response to forces applied to the bicycle frame during use of the bicycle training system.

  • Patent number: 6527681
Abstract: The invention relates to a home trainer designed to accommodate a bicycle, comprising a brakable drive roll incorporated in a frame, which can be mounted in a friction coupling with a driven wheel of the bicycle. The frame is provided with a sub-frame that is rotatable about a first pivoting point, the drive roll being mounted in the sub-frame. The frame is further provided with a handle rotatable about a second pivoting point, which is adjustable between an operational position wherein the handle pushes the sub-frame towards the wheel such that the drive roll and the wheel maintain the friction coupling, and a neutral position wherein the handle releases the sub-frame such that the drive roll and the wheel do not engage.
