Abstract: An electrochemical cell and method for producing same. The cell includes a metal anode, a non aqueous liquid cathode solution, an electrolyte dissolved in the non aqueous liquid cathode solution, a porous carbon current collector, a separator disposed between said anode and said porous carbon current collector, and a non-porous current collector disposed adjacent the porous current collector for conducting current from the porous current collector to the cell pole, the non-porous current collector being characterized in that its surface adjacent the porous current collector is made essentially of non-porous carbon.
Abstract: A portable receiving/transmitting unit is adapted to communicate with a master station, the master station being associated with a plurality of base stations, a plurality of pagers and a plurality of individual receiving/transmitting units. The portable receiving/transmitting unit includes, integrated into one unit, structure for receiving a data string encoding a personal message which is broadcasted by the master station together with a unit identifying code through a plurality of pagers; structure for conveying the broadcasted message to the operator of the receiving unit identified by the identifying code; and structure for generating a message and for transmitting it from the portable unit to the receiving base stations together with a unit identifying code.

Abstract: A rechargeable electrochemical cell comprising a first electrode capable of reversibly incorporating on the surface thereof an alkali metal, a second electrode capable of reversibly incorporating therein ions of the alkali metal, and an electrolyte in contact with the first and second electrodes, the cell being characterized in that prior to charging the surface of the first electrode is substantially free from the alkali-metal.
Abstract: There is provided an indirect frequency synthesizer in the millimeter wave frequency range of 36 to 38.6 GHz. The synthesizer comprises a high performance frequency translation loop for operation in the microwave frequency range and contains a voltage-controlled oscillator, an automatic loop gain correction system and a sophisticated lock search system. The frequency translation loop is operable under a variety of conditions (temperature etc.) and overcomes the considerable difficulties which exist in this frequency range such as maintenance of constant optimum loop parameters, thus making it possible to utilize the entire frequency tuning range of the millimeter wave oscillator. As a result, the synthesizer has very satisfactory characteristics as regards noise and spurious frequencies products.
