    Abstract: Apparatus for mobile communications includes a plurality of wireless local area network (WLAN) access points at respective physical locations, linked together in a network. The access points have respective logical identities assigned thereto, the logical identities defining channels for use by mobile stations in a vicinity of the network in communicating over the air with the access points. A control unit is coupled to convey signals over the network so as to alter the logical identities assigned to one or more of the access points.
