  • Patent number: 10882008
Abstract: An apparatus for processing biological sample is provided, which comprises a semi-permeable membrane column, an adaptor column and a vacuum manifold. The at least one semi-permeable membrane column is configured for accommodating biological sample therein and comprises a curved surface. The at least one adaptor column is configured for accommodating the semi-permeable membrane column therein and comprises a stopping element. The vacuum manifold is configured for creating a vacuum that facilitates flowing of the biological sample into the semi-permeable membrane column through a semi-permeable membrane therein. The stopping element abuts against the curved surface.

  • Patent number: 9989465
Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-channel fluorescence detecting system for detecting a plurality of fluorescence labeled analytes. The multi-channel fluorescence detecting system comprises a light source, a light filter device, a dual branch light guide tube, and a detector. The light source comprises a plurality of sub light sources for respectively providing an excitation light. The plurality of sub light sources are a plurality of single color Light emitting diodes (LEDs) which can be selectively turned on or off. The light source generates a plurality of lights with full width at half maximum (FWHM) wavelengths formed in a non-overlap manner. With the disposition of the plurality of sub light sources, the accuracy for detecting the specific analytes is raised, the light flux with a specific wavelength band is effectively raised (without raising the light flux of the full wavelength band), the structure is simplified, and the manufacturing cost is decreased.

  • Patent number: 8900534
Abstract: A biological sample-processing apparatus has a sample-processing chamber, which has a door with space for receiving reagent tanks. The reagent supply tanks have conduits in fluid communication with reagent buffer tanks in the sample-processing chamber. The door has a pivot with a hollow interior. At least one conduit connects the reagent supply tanks to the reagent buffer tanks through the hollow interior of the pivot. The present invention provides a modification of the door of a biological sample-processing apparatus so that the door is equipped with reagent supply tanks that contain reagents for processing biological samples and that facilitate the operation of the processing and increase convenience, and further, enable more of the apparatuses to be allocated in the same space.

  • Patent number: 8658105
Abstract: An apparatus for securely processing biological sample is used to wash, separate, or purify biological molecules, such as DNAs, RNAs, and proteins. The apparatus comprises at least one semi-permeable membrane column, a vacuum manifold, and at least one optional adaptor column. The semi-permeable membrane column is loosely received in the slot of the vacuum manifold. When the adaptor column is used, the semi-permeable membrane column is loosely received in the adaptor column, and the adaptor column is loosely received in the slot of the vacuum manifold. The apparatus also comprises sealing elements which are inserted between the column and the slot. When the semi-permeable membrane column contains liquid sample and vacuum is applied to the vacuum manifold, the liquid in the semi-permeable membrane column can be drawn out of the column through the membrane.

  • Patent number: 8597596
Abstract: A plunger for mixing a biological sample with a reagent in a tube is moved up and down reciprocally to agitate the biological sample and the reagent for subsequent extraction of the material from the mixture to be analyzed. The plunger's agitation facilitates the concentration of the extracted material to reach an extent where a correct analysis is possible. The plunger of the present invention has a shape of a hollow cylinder with an aperture at the bottom, a plurality of slots formed on the cylindrical surface, and an opening formed at the top. The plunger allows a pipette to draw the extracted material in the test tube out from the opening at the top of the plunger without removing the plunger, and prevents drawing out the fragments of the sample after the biological sample and the reagent have been sufficiently mixed.
