Patents Assigned to TAIT LIMITED
  • Patent number: 9794940
Abstract: A communication system having multiple bearers overlays a relatively narrowband bearer such as P25 on a relatively wideband bearer such as LTE, for transmission of both uplink and downlink signals. The wideband bearer uses a spectrum of subcarriers which form a set of radio frequency blocks. One or more blocks or other related parts of the spectrum may be allocated to the narrowband bearer. In some cases the narrowband bearer may push through the wideband allocation using a relatively high power to dominate signals transmitted by the wideband bearer. Voice calls such as emergency calls using the narrowband bearer may be prioritized.

  • Patent number: 9559967
Abstract: A communication system is made up of a number of LMR and IP bearers including LTE and P25. The information flowing over the integrated system is managed according to the situational context of the user. A policy driven approach is described that uses user context as its inputs and converts this into actions that preferentially improves the communication for the user particularly as they move between the available networks.

  • Patent number: 9107231
Abstract: Terminals in a wireless communication system are scheduled according to a metric based on average power data received from a plurality of terminals at a plurality of base stations. An acceptable metric lies below a threshold value determined by the particular user's quality of service requirement. Groups of terminals are scheduled for simultaneous transmission in respective intervals of time or frequency. An equation for the metric {tilde over (K)}o is defined.

  • Patent number: 8902804
Abstract: A method of broadcasting a file to terminals in a wireless network, such as a mobile radio network. The file is divided into a set of blocks which are to be transmitted to the terminals. An interval for response by the terminals is calculated depending on the number of active terminals which require the blocks. Messages containing the blocks and the response interval are then broadcast over the network. Responses indicating missing or imperfect blocks are received from the terminals. These steps are repeated until all of the terminals have received a complete set of blocks or have become inactive. Shorter response intervals are calculated as the number of active terminals is reduced.

Abstract: A conventional UE in a radio system based on LTE may be boosted for use in an extended geographical cell provided by an eNodeB. The booster may be connected to the UE in various ways which minimise the changes required to an otherwise standard UE device. The booster is activated by control signals from the UE, or by an internal switch, or by a power detector for example. Power headroom reports by the UE to the eNodeB are correct within the larger cell.

  • Publication number: 20130010622
Abstract: Multiple bearers such as LTE and P25 in a radio system are used to provide diversity and therefore more reliable signal transmissions. The bearers are ranked according to one or more quality characteristics and uplink or downlink messages are transmitted using the best available path at that time. Emergency messages are transmitted simultaneously on all available bearers.

  • Publication number: 20120282866
Abstract: A radio transceiver architecture having transmitter and receiver paths. The receiver path has a frequency down conversion stage which creates an incoming IF signal from an incoming RF signal. The transmitter path has a frequency up conversion stage which creates an outgoing RF signal from an outgoing IF signal and a feedback IF signal. The feedback IF signal is created from the outgoing RF signal by the frequency conversion stage in the receiver path.
