    Abstract: The thermally reversible cross-linked hot-melt adhesive has good handling properties and storage stability, can be repeatedly melted by heating and solidified by cooling, and has high adhesiveness and good pot life. It is obtained b melting and mixing a maleimide compound, having a maleimide group at a plurality of ends thereof, with a mixture of a star-branched-structure polyurethane resin having a furan ring at a plurality of ends thereof and a straight-chain polyurethane resin having a furan ring at both ends thereof. It has a low viscosity when being melted by heating, and, after being solidified by cooling, forms a high molecular weight body having a three-thmensionally cross-linked structure, and therefore, is a resin having high cohesive force and high adhesiveness. It does not react with moisture in the air and therefore can be stored in air, and is suitable as a hot-melt adhesive for bookbinding.

    Abstract: Provided is a moisture-curable polyurethane hot-melt adhesive (PUR) that, when heated, produces less hazardous isocyanate gas, and is safe and easy for a user to handle. This moisture-curable polyurethane hot-melt adhesive comprises 100 parts by weight of a urethane pre-polymer which is a product obtained from a reaction between an excessive amount of diphenylmethane diisocyanate and a mixture of a crystalline polyester polyol and a non-crystalline polyester polyol and/or a non-crystalline polyether polyol, and 5-20 parts by weight of a surface-modified silica gel containing an amino group. Preferable as the surface-modified silica gel is a silica gel to which a residual group of a silane oligomer, which is a hydrolytic product of aminoalkyl(di or tri)alkoxysilane, is linked.

    Abstract: A tape binding device includes a table. The table includes a tape passage groove allowing to pass a tape having a greater width than a width of a material to be bound. A loop forming mechanism for forming a loop of the tape includes a first belt conveying mechanism disposed below the table. The first belt conveying mechanism includes a plurality of conveying belts provided with spaces to be spaced apart in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the tape. The tape is sucked to the conveying belts and conveyed by sucking air through the spaces. Placing portions of plurality of placing members driven to an upper position by a driving mechanism place the material to be bound thereon located above the conveying belts of the first belt conveying mechanism. At least one of the placing portions is arranged to advance above the conveying belts through a space between the corresponding conveying belts.

    Abstract: A bookbinding machine wherein a book comprising a plurality of sheets of paper or the like to be bound together is clamped by a clamping device at a first position and the clamping device with the book is reciprocated between the first position and a second position. In the course of reciprocation adhesive is applied to one edge surface or back of the clamped book. When the clamping device has been returned to the first position after reciprocation, a cover sheet on a supporting plate is applied onto the back of the book by raising the supporting plate, which is then moved away from below the clamping device after application of the cover sheet to the back of the book so that the book may be easily taken out of the machine from below the clamping device by gravitation or otherwise.
