  • Patent number: 4962976
Abstract: A polyphase induction motor is driven from an inverter having a set of switches activated in prescribed on-off patterns to provide forward and reverse voltage vectors and a zero vector for controllably energizing the motor. Memories are provided on which there are written forward voltage vector data for forwardly energizing the motor, reverse voltage vector data for reversely energizing the motor, and zero vector data for de-energizing the motor. The voltage vector data and zero vector data are selectively read out from the memories in order to cause the inverter to generate in real time the corresponding voltage vectors and zero vectors needed for the motor to be quickly revolved to, and set out of rotation exactly in, a desired angular position. For such optimum motor speed control an ideal control curve is predefined which represents the ideal relationship between the motor speed and the difference between the actual and the desired angular position of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4933831
Abstract: An inverter power supply with improved power factor comprises a source of low frequency AC voltage and an inverter having a pair of series connected first and second transistors controlled to alternately turn on and off at a high frequency for providing a high frequency AC voltage to a load. A diode-bridge full-wave rectifier is connected to provide a DC voltage which is charged to at least one capacitor which in turn provides a DC voltage input to the inverter. An inductor, which counteracts the capative reactance of the capacitor for improving the power factor, is inserted in series with the AC voltage source across the input of the diode-bridge rectifier. The first and second transistors of the inverter also operate to interrupt or chop at the high frequency a current fed through the inductor from the AC voltage source so as to charge the capacitor through the rectifier by the inductor.

  • Patent number: 4739830
Abstract: A method of collecting geothermal steam using Acoustic Emission Microseismic Activity (AE/MA) measurement includes the steps of (a) surveying an AE wave emitted in subsurface cracks to obtain the size of a water permeable geothermal reservoir by analyzing the AE wave, (b) further surveying the AE wave emitted in and around the periphery of the geothermal reservoir, (c) operating the wellhead valve of the geothermal well connected with the geothermal reservoir, thereby extending or preventing the extension of the geothermal reservoir in accordance with the information obtained in step (a) and/or step (b), thereby stably obtaining a predetermined quantity of steam of high quality. Thus, the method can stably obtain geothermal steam of high quality by accurately surveying or monitoring subsurface cracks by an AE measurement technique and propagating the subsurface cracks or suppressing the propagation of the cracks.
