Abstract: A process for producing hydrocarbons having about 10 to 50 carbon atoms with a high yield by subjecting a synthetic polyisoprene rubber to a thermally destructive distillation under a reduced pressure and further a process for producing squalane-like saturated hydrocarbons by catalytically reducing the distillate thus obtained from the synthetic polyisoprene rubber.
Abstract: A chewing gum base containing natural rubber, basic gum additives and a decomposition product obtained by thermally decomposing natural rubber at a temperature of 200.degree. C. to 350.degree. C. in an inert atmosphere and removing low boiling point fractions up to 160.degree. C. at a pressure of approximately 1 mm Hg.
Abstract: A perfume composition containing 5-ethyl-4-methyl-methylnicotinate and a method of improving the naturalness of the fragrance of a perfume composition.
Abstract: A process for preparing derivatives of isoprene dimers, which are useful as materials for producing perfumes, pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals, comprising catalytically reacting isoprene with an active methyl-containing compound, such as methacrylonitrile, using bis-.pi.-allyl nickel or bis-cyclooctadiene nickel as a catalyst and triphenyl phosphine, triphenyl phosphite, tributyl arsenic or tricyclohexyl phosphine as a ligand and a tertiaryamine compound as a solvent.
Abstract: A process for producing menthone comprising dehydrogenating citronellol in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst at about 150 to about 260.degree. C in an atmosphere of hydrogen under a pressure of 0 to about 5 kg/cm.sup.2. G and a process for producing menthol. Since the dehydrogenation catalyst has a hydrogenating ability, an embodiment additionally includes the ability to ultimately produce menthol in the same reactor without separating the catalyst or adding additional or another catalyst to the system by simply changing the temperature and the hydrogen pressure. Embodiments also include producing menthone and also ultimately menthol utilizing geraniol or a mixture of geraniol and citronellol as a starting material again without catalyst separation or use of additional or another catalyst.
