Patent number: 6736427Abstract: A safety belt apparatus for motor vehicles comprising a safety belt and a deflecting device for the safety belt which is connected to a holder which can be fastened to the vehicle via an absorption unit. The deflecting device being movable in an absorption direction by forces occurring relative to the holder with a pulling movement of the safety belt caused by an accident while overcoming an opposing absorption resistance of the absorption unit. The deflecting device being hindered from making a movement in the absorption direction with forces occurring in normal operation. The absorption unit being changeable in shape by the deflecting device moving in the absorption direction in order to overcome the absorption resistance.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2002Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Takata (Europe) Vehicle Safety Technology GmbHInventors: Thomas Herrmann, Richard Frank, Thomas Schwer, Vadim Ruge

Patent number: 6527298Abstract: A safety belt arrangement for motor vehicles. The arrangement includes a safety belt and a belt roller from which the belt is retracted and withdrawn. The safety belt arrangement also includes a belt deflection apparatus that includes a deflection member. The belt is guided from the belt roller to the deflection member so that the belt can be deflected as it approaches the passenger. The deflection member moves away from the passenger in the case of an accident due to a force applied by a spring. Normally, the deflection member is retracted against the spring force by a retainer mechanism. The retainer mechanism releases the deflection member in the event of an accident. The resulting tensile force applied to the belt moves the passenger back into the normal seated position.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Takata (Europe) Vehicle Safety Technology GmbHInventor: Robert Kopetzky

Patent number: 6402190Abstract: The invention relates to a non return valve for an airbag of a vehicle passenger retention system, which is provided with a connection hose between two chambers of the airbag, wherein in the connector hose a fabric inlay is accommodated. The fabric inlay subdivides the connection hose into a flow passage between the first and the second chamber and a pressure chamber which is in connection with the second chamber. As soon as the internal pressure in the first chamber is greater than that in the second chamber the fabric inlay opens the flow passage. If on the contrary the internal pressure in the second chamber is greater than that in the first chamber the fabric inlay closes off the flow passage by means of the internal pressure which acts in the pressure chamber.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2000Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Takata (Europe) Vehicle Safety Technology GmbHInventors: Benedikt Heudorfer, Patrick David, Jochen Maidel
