    Abstract: A box blank holding device for a box-making machine has a main body, a driving rack and a motor mechanism for reciprocally moving the driving rack relative to the main body. A transmission shaft is rotatably supported on the main body, the transmission shaft having a pair of pinions, and one of the pinions being in meshing engagement with the driving rack. A pair of holding-member actuating racks are disposed in meshing engagement with the other pinion. Each of the holding-member actuating racks has a holding member pivotally mounted thereto on an end thereof. Each of the holding members also has a roller thereon. The rollers are guided in respective guide grooves provided on the main body for guiding the holding members between projecting and retracted positions for holding and releasing a stack of box blanks. By using a fluid cylinder as the motor mechanism, the holding force on a stack of box blanks can be predetermined.

    Abstract: A box blank holding device for a box-making machine. In a holder main body of the device, a driving rack is moved when air is supplied to and discharged from a cylinder connected to the rack. A transmission shaft is rotatably supported by the holder main body and has a pair of pinions, one in meshing engagement with the driving rack, and the other in meshing engagement with a pair of holding member-actuating racks disposed on either side thereof. A pair of blank holding members are pivotally mounted on the ends of the holding member-actuating racks in such a manner as to be retractable and projectable into spaced opposed relation facing each other for gripping box blanks therebetween and being guided by retracting-and-projecting guide plates mounted on the holder main body.

    Abstract: An apparatus for stacking a plurality of folded box blanks such that alternating groups of a predetermined number of folded blanks are superimposed in opposite orientations. The apparatus includes a lower rail device having a stacking position, a second rail device above the first rail device and terminating at a position above an intermediate portion of the lower rail device, an inverting and transferring device for inverting alternating stacks of a predetermined number of folded blanks stacks at the stacking position onto the second rail device, a stopper device for allowing alternating stacks to move along the lower rail device, and a conveying device for conveying both the stacks on the lower rail device and the upper rail device simultaneously so that each stack on the upper rail device falls onto a stack on the lower rail device at the end of the upper rail device, whereby the desired combined stack is formed on the lower rail device.

    Abstract: A foldable case blank having first, second, third and fourth portions continuously connected through longitudinal fold lines, these portions being formed as upper, bottom, front and rear portions of a case, respectively, when the blank is fabricated as a case and side pieces attached through transverse fold lines of these first through fourth portions on both side ends thereof. The first, i.e. upper, portion is provided with shaping portions which are defined by longitudinal cut lines, transverse foldable lines and a central cut line so that the shaping portions reinforce the side portions of a fabricated case when the shaping portions are folded inwardly of the case. The shaping portions are provided with projections along the central cut line so that the projections are engaged with engaging holes formed on the bottom portion of the case when the case blank is fabricated.

    Abstract: A case making machine is provided with an apparatus for folding rear portion of a feeding case blank and the apparatus comprises a claw mechanism for folding the rear portion of the case blank along the folding line. The claw mechanism is rotated at an angular speed which is changed by a cam mechanism operated by a driving source through a drive shaft and a link mechanism. An electromagnetic valve is further provided for controlling the operation of the claw mechanism. The valve is actuated by an electric circuit such that the electromagnetic valve can be operated in synchrony with the advancing speed of the blank. This result is achieved by increasing pulse numbers inputted into the circuit to account for the rise time interval of the electromagnetic valve.
