Abstract: A splicing device (10) for closing a looped material band (1) comprising two splicing elements (20, 30) intimately linked to the ends (2, 3) of the material band (1), assembled together by fitting two toothings (22, 23) into each other, and locked by a transverse locking rod (15) inserted in the aligned transverse openings (14) of the teeth (13) of each toothing. The splicing elements (20, 30) are made out of a material compatible with that of the material band and comprise a traction core extending longitudinally up to the teeth (13) and surrounding the transverse opening (14) of teeth (13) of each toothing (22, 32) so that, when the splicing device (10) is assembled and locked, the traction cores of the splicing elements ensure the tensile strength of the splicing device (10) while remaining very flexible.
Abstract: A looped material band (100) which includes at least one flat strip (2) having two reversible splice areas (3) in which the serrations (3a, 3b) only extend along a part of its width so that, when the material band is assembled in a loop around two pulleys (10a, 10b), the strands of the material band, which extend respectively between the two pulleys, are continuous and without any splice at least along a portion (9) of their width, regardless of the rotational position of the looped material band.
Abstract: A process of manufacturing a looped material band for use as a conveyor belt, a conveyor, a transmission belt or the like in which the ends of the band are assembled by fitting together two serrations that have complementary shapes and are connected by at least one transverse locking rod that is inserted through transverse openings arranged in the teeth of the serrations. The process comprises the steps of producing the transverse openings by machining the ends of the band to remove material in an area corresponding at least to the transverse openings to be produced, placing a transverse core pin in each machined area, overmolding material in the machined areas to restore the ends of the band, and one removing, after polymerization of the material, the transverse core pins that form the transverse openings.
