  • Patent number: 4639796
Abstract: For accurate positioning of a transducer to a track of a tape-recording medium, for example a magnetic head to a magnetic tape, a sensing device is utilized which is partially covered by the edge of the recording medium and comprises a light barrier structure. In the first embodiment, the light barrier structure is fixed at a control signal generated by way of a converter is supplied to a positioning device for the transducer. Dependent on the control signal, the transducer is positioned such that the write and read elements thereof respectively have a prescribed distance from the edge of the recording medium. In a second embodiment, at least one part of the light barrier is disposed at the transducer 4 and extends in the region of the transducer 4 to a region which corresponds to the stroke of the positioning of the transducer when the same is positioned to different tracks.

  • Patent number: 4636890
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment a cassette provided with the magnetic tape is inserted in a longitudinal direction into an insertion channel. During and/or after the insertion of the cassette, a magnetic head carrier provided with a magnetic head is pivoted from an idle position into an operating position in which the magnetic head contacts the magnetic tape. The pivotal movement is effected by a lever linked to the magnetic head carrier. The lever is actuated by a connecting rod which is linked to a cover for closing the insertion channel. The movement of the lever by the connecting rod ensues via a rotatably mounted swivel arm. When the cover for the insertion channel is opened, the magnetic head is pivoted back into its idle position and the cassette is simultaneously partially ejected from the magnetic tape recorder by the swivel arm.

  • Patent number: 4636903
Abstract: The safety device for tape cassettes for the positionally correct insertion of the tape cassettes into an acceptance device comprises a tongue-shaped spring element disposed at the floor of the acceptance device, a ramp edge being disposed at the free end of said spring element, with said ramp edge cooperating with the front edge of said tape cassette and being displaceable by said front edge out of the insertion region upon insertion of said tape cassette. A stop piece engaging behind the ramp edge in the direction toward the fastening end of the spring element is connected to the ramp edge, the stop piece interacting with a recess of the tape cassette such that, given positionally correct insertion of the tape cassette into the acceptance device, the stop piece first slides into the recess and, upon continued insertion of the cassette, the front edge thereof displaces the stop piece out of the insertion region via the ramp edge.

  • Patent number: 4622606
Abstract: The magnetic tape recorder exhibits an insertion channel into which a cassette containing a magnetic tape is inserted in a longitudinal direction. A capstan driven by a tape drive motor and a magnetic head are disposed at one side of the insertion channel. A dust cover for the cassette is hinged out by a pivot arrangement during closing of a cover for the insertion channel. The magnetic head is disposed on a magnetic head carrier that is pivotable around an axis and is coupled with the cover for the insertion channel such that the magnetic head is pivotable into place behind the dust cover in contacting relation to the magnetic tape after said dust cover has been opened. The cassette is locked in a defined working position after the cover for the insertion channel is closed. For removal of the cassette, the magnetic head is pivoted out of its operating position into an idle position as the cover for the insertion channel is opened, whereupon the dust cover is hinged back into its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4609959
Abstract: A device for positioning a magnetic head into an operative position relative to a multi-track magnetic tape in a magnetic tape recorder. A magnetic head is disposed at one end of a magnetic head carrier while the opposite end of the head carrier is axially and laterally moveably mounted on a shaft attached to the tape recorder housing frame. A motor-driven worm gear engages a worm wheel mounted in an axially displaceable manner along the shaft. A spring mounted on the shaft urges the head carrier against the worm wheel so that upon rotation of the worm, the worm wheel is displaced along the shaft and moves the magnetic head perpendicularly to the running direction of the magnetic tape. A stop member is positioned adjacent the head carrier to prevent rotation of the head carrier during rotation of the worm wheel. In certain embodiments, the head carrier is pivotally mounted on the shaft in order to selectively pivot the magnetic head away from the operational working area thereof.

  • Patent number: 4547818
Abstract: High-frequency magnetic bias signals are superimposed on the data signals and are synchronized with the data signals. For the data signals and for the magnetic bias signals in each instance a separate write amplifier with two logic elements is provided which are alternately switched in dependence upon the binary values of the data signals and the magnetic bias signals, respectively. Mutually corresponding logic elements in the write amplifiers are interconnected at the output side via resistances. The magnetic head is connected between the connection points of the resistances. The resistances determine the respective current through the magnetic head. As logic elements preferably integrated NAND circuits without output-side collector resistances are provided.

  • Patent number: 4489355
Abstract: A locking device for a magnetic tape cassette in a magnetic tape device has a lever disposed below the insertion slot; a blocking arm projecting out of the housing; a thrust arm; and an ejector arm. When a magnetic tape cassette is locked in with the locking arm, the thrust arm engages via a wedge with a cartridge-like carrier provided with three rotary bodies and by upward movement of the carrier towards the insertion slot presses the rotary bodies into the insertion slot from below and against the magnetic tape cassette. The magnetic tape cassette is thereby securely held at the reference points. When releasing the locking arm, the magnetic tape cassette is ejected by the pre-stressed ejector arm.

  • Patent number: 4479151
Abstract: Encoded digital information signals are magnetically recorded on a magnetic recording medium with the assistance of a magnetic head to which write current is supplied. As a function of the encoded information signals, a head change is carried out wherein the current applied to the magnetic head is changed from a first current value to a second current value and vice versa. After each head change, an amplitude of the write current is varied in stepwise amounts from the first or second current value, respectively, and wherein the number of steps depends on a chronological spacing of the head changes from one another. Distortions of resulting read signals are reduced given the method and apparatus of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4476503
Abstract: When setting a write gap or a read gap to a recording track on a magnetic medium, an edge of the medium is selected as a starting point, proceeding from which the write and read means are displaced in fixed track spacings. Appropriate method steps are:(a) generating a write signal with the write means of a read and write system exhibiting a write and a read means;(b) moving the medium from the write means toward the read means;(c) executing a read operation with the read means which generates a read signal;(d) comparing the read signal to a reference value identifying the write signal; and(e) outputting a detector signal indicating the edge when the write signal has been identified.

  • Patent number: 4393378
Abstract: A system for the generation of a light intensity control signal for a video amplifier of a data display device is disclosed which is connected with a video signal line and a pulse generator. When displaying characters composed of horizontal lines and vertical rows of points on a screen, the lines display a higher brightness than the points.
