Patents Assigned to Tanner Chemical Company
  • Patent number: 5064896
Abstract: Heat curable adhesive compositions which include liquid polybutadiene polymer, powdered sulfur, organic accelerators and inert fillers are improved by adding blocked polyisocyanates or capped polyisocyanates. The addition improves resistance to "popping" of the cured or uncured adhesive when exposed to high temperature, e.g., spot-welding. The addition does not alter the beneficial flow properties and rheological properties of the adhesive. The adhesive is particularly useful on zinc coated steel, both electroplated zinc and hot-dip galvanized zinc coatings. Inclusion of zinc borate will activate the cure accelerators and retard the "popping" phenomenon at welding temperature.

  • Patent number: 4402633
Abstract: A method for fastening rock bolts in geological strata and a two-compartment package containing expansible resinous composition including unsaturated polyester resin syrup, aluminum chlorohydroxide and activator for the resin syrup. The method introduces an expansible composition into an opening in the geological strata, and foams the composition in engagement with a rock bolt. The preferred method introduces a two-compartment package of the composition into the opening in the geological strata, ruptures the package with the rock bolt, and mixes the composition by mechanical motion of the rock bolt.

  • Patent number: 4347331
Abstract: A foamed, low density, highly extended, polymerized unsaturated polyester resin product which exhibits excellent fire, strength and insulative properties. The product is formed by combining a first component comprised of unsaturated polyester resin syrup, reactive, non-reinforcing, extender material capable of providing a blowing agent nd selected from the group consisting of inorganic carbonate compounds, inorganic bicarbonate compounds and mixtures thereof and, optionally, non-reactive, non-reinforcing extender material with a second component comprised of an aqueous solution of aluminum hydroxie chloride and, optionally, non-reactive, non-reinforcing, extender material. When the two components are combined as a composition mixture, the reactive, non-reinforcing, extender material and the aluminum hydroxie chloride solution react to provide a blowing agent and to form a solid product which chemically binds the water originally present.

  • Patent number: 4192791
Abstract: A highly extended, unsaturated polyester resin syrup composition mixture comprising unsaturated polyester resin syrup, basic aluminum chloride and non-reinforcing extender material which is substantially non-reactive with the resin syrup and the basic aluminum chloride. The composition mixture may be used to prepare a shaped article comprised of the cured, cross-linked composition. The article is prepared by first forming a first component comprising unsaturated polyester resin syrup and non-reinforcing extender material and a second component comprising a solution of basic aluminum chloride and non-reinforcing extender material. The two components are mixed together to yield the composition mixture which possesses a viscosity low enough to be worked with conventional apparatus. The composition mixture is then shaped into the configuration of the desired article, allowed to cure and, if necessary, allowed to set.
