    Abstract: The invention relates to production of a porous microstructure using the high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) templating technology. The invented method involves subjecting an emulsion prepared by emulsification of two immiscible phases to forced sedimentation, such as subjecting the emulsion to centrifugation, so as to increase the volume ratio of the dispersed phase to the continuous phase to obtain a high internal phase emulsion (HIPE), following by curing the continuous phase, whereby the porous microstructure thus produced has an increased porosity.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a three-dimensional ordered porous microstructure. In the method of the invention where the three-dimensional ordered microstructure is produced using the colloidal crystal templating process, the three-dimensional ordered microstructure thus formed is subjected to heat treatment to soften the particles, so as to effectively increase the contact between orderly arranged particles while removing the solvent used to suspend the particles. The present invention further relates to a monolithic column produced thereby. Compared to the monolithic columns produced by conventional methods, the monolithic column according to the invention is characterized in having a higher aspect ratio and a higher pore regularity, while the connecting pores in the column are relatively large in pore size.

    Abstract: An apparatus for isolating bubbles from a liquid comprises at least a main body; an inlet tube and an outlet tube disposed at a side of the main body which includes an accommodation chamber and a column disposed atop, the inlet tube is formed with an aperture within the accommodation chamber, and the outlet tube is disposed at a position below the inlet tube; and a coupling tube disposed within the accommodation chamber, and includes a first end connected to the inlet tube and a second end corresponding to and separating from the outlet tube by a gap. During use, a liquid dispersed with bubbles is introduced through the inlet tube. The bubbles pass through the aperture along with a small portion of the liquid and ascend toward a top of the accommodation chamber and are then collected by the column.
