  • Patent number: 7392628
Abstract: A shutter assembly mounts to a building and includes a right stile and a left stile disposed in spaced opposing relationship with one another. A first bar is mounted to the right stile and presents at least one recess facing outwardly away from the right stile for receiving a decorative member. A second bar opposing the first bar is mounted to the left stile and presents at least one recess facing and opposing the recess of the first bar for receiving the decorative member. The first and second bars each have at least one biasing device extending into the respective recesses of the first and second bars and engage the decorative member for biasing the decorative member outwardly away from the respective stiles to prevent movement of the decorative member relative to the stiles.

  • Publication number: 20080110218
Abstract: A locking shutter assembly includes a pair of shutters for attachment to a building structure. A pair of retention brackets extend between a first and a second end. One of the retention brackets are attached to a respective shutter at each end with a pair of opposing clips. Each retention bracket defines a passage and a rigidity member is slidably disposed in the passage to interconnect the retention brackets and restrain movement of the shutters with respect to the structure during inclement weather.

  • Publication number: 20080083187
Abstract: A split tile and a whole tile are for attachment to a building structure. The split tile includes a base section, a first section and a second section. The first section and the second section each extend from the base section in adjacent relationship. The first section, the second section, and the base section are substantially planar. A line is defined between the first section and the second section for providing the appearance of multiple shingle tabs on the split tile. The whole tile includes the base section and a third section extending from the base section. The base section provides the appearance of a shingle tab on the whole tile. When a plurality of the split tile and the whole tile are attached to a building structure, a staggered appearance of the shingle tile is provided.

  • Publication number: 20080029922
Abstract: A polymer molding system and method of operation produces synthetic article of manufacture that simulate natural building materials such as wooden shakes and stone roofing tiles. The system preferably feeds at least two dye compounds and a polymer filler material into an extruder for heating into a ribbon. The ribbon is heated as it travels through the extruder and through an outlet end where a slicing unit cuts the ribbon into a plurality of preforms at a pre-defined rate. Because the dye compounds are not homogeneously mixed with one another, the ribbon and hence the preforms are generally of at least two colors. Each preform is individually fed into a press that stamps and partially cools the preform into the simulated article of manufacture shape that also accentuates the varying colors. Preferably, the stamped article is then flexed or cupped between a carriage and a dead weight prior to crystallization and where it then cools and crystallizes to a final shape.

  • Publication number: 20080010911
Abstract: A window well assembly for buildings and the like include at least a first well unit and a second well unit each having opposite first and second flanges at opposite ends of a retaining wall of each unit for securing the well units to a sub-grade foundation of the building. Preferably, the assembly has a plurality of releasable spacer couplings that are mated and carried between well units when the assembly is in a stored state, and has indexing features that are mated and carried between well units when the assembly is in an assembled state.

  • Publication number: 20080003398
Abstract: A shutter assembly having a foam insert or core enveloped by a cementitious shell is disclosed. The shell can also be provided with an optional hanger member that allows the shutter assembly to be mounted to a dwelling via a bracket affixed to an exterior wall surface thereof. The assembly is molded from a cementitious slurry including gypsum cement and water. An appropriate amount of the slurry is added onto a bottom mold surface portion to a desired depth. If the hanger member is to be used, it is placed onto the bottom mold surface portion prior to the introduction of the slurry. The foam insert or core is placed atop the slurry in a desired orientation, whereupon the top mold surface portion is closed over the bottom mold surface portion. After curing, the shutter assembly is removed from the mold and is ready for immediate use and/or further processing.

  • Publication number: 20070224866
Abstract: Wall mount assemblies operable to be mounted to a building are described. The wall mount assemblies include a base having a front surface and a rear surface and having a wall extending about an outer periphery and inwardly from the rear surface. The base also includes at least one edge recessed rearwardly from the front surface defining a recessed portion therein. The edge of the recessed portion also defines mounting apertures and/or mounting holes spaced about the recessed portion. An annular flange extends rearwardly from the recessed portion. A cover member mounts to either one of the mounting apertures and the mounting holes for creating an aesthetic appearance.
