Patent number: 5706692Abstract: A combined sheet bending brake, coil holder and cut-off mechanism that includes a sheet bending brake having a support base, and elongated fixed and movable clamping members carried by the support base so as to clamp sheet stock extending longitudinally between the clamping members. A coil holder has a support frame removably cantilevered from one end of the support base. A trolley is removably mounted on the support frame, and has a pair of spaced rollers that extend axially in a direction transverse to the elongated fixed and movable clamping members on the brake for extending through and rotatably supporting a coil of sheet stock. Bars are carried by said support frame for releasably clamping a stock end extending from a coil on the trolley. A cut-off mechanism is removably mountable on the coil holder for severing sheet end stock extending from the holder into said bending brake.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1996Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: Tapco International CorporationInventors: Arthur B. Patent number: 5644940Abstract: A portable slitter for selectively roll slitting rib forming or perforating sheet metal workpieces and having a beam-type frame, a pair of spaced thin walled and light weight rotary torque tube roll shafts mounted in the frame and supporting the work rolls, and a plurality of pairs of opposed stabilizing support blocks disposed between the shafts and the associated frame beams and providing further strength to the shafts by functioning as intermediate span shaft journal supports carrying the roll work loads imposed on shafts directly into the frame beams. The bearing members can be readily removed and adjusted longitudinally of the shafts without taking the frame apart. The slitter can be readily manually transported to the work site because it has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is light in overall weight. The slitter has substantial operational strength and improved work roll registry and alignment under continuous and/or adverse on-site operating conditions.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: Tapco International CorporationInventors: Arthur B. Patent number: 5634998Abstract: A shutter apparatus and method of assembling same. The apparatus comprises a pair of elongated, outer support members and a plurality of center component sections which slidably engage channel portions of each of the outer support members. One or more spacer panels are included as well as one or more end members. The shutter apparatus is assembled by ultrasonically welding portions of the outer support members to side portions of each of the center components and the spacer panel, and to securing portions of the end members. By ultrasonically welding the various components of the shutter apparatus together rather than assembling same though the conventional use of staples and other like external fastening elements, the cost of assembly is reduced and the ability to re-use scrap component parts is made significantly easier and less costly.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Tapco InternationalInventors: Charles E. Patent number: 5579617Abstract: A molding assembly having a hanger member fixedly securable to an inner or outer wall of a building and a decorative molding insert member releasably engageable with the hanger member. The molding insert member is supported at a lower edge portion by a lower J-channel of the hanger member. An upper L-shaped portion of the insert member is supported by a depending lip portion of the hanger member which forms a second channel such that no external fastening elements are required to secure the molding insert member to the hanger member. The insert member can be quickly and easily releasably engaged within the J-channel and the second channel without the need for special tools. In an alternative preferred embodiment the insert member includes a lip portion which is adapted to slidably engage an under surface of an adjacently positioned insert member to provide an even more continuous appearance for adjacently positioned insert members.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1994Date of Patent: December 3, 1996Assignee: Tapco InternationalInventors: Charles E. Patent number: 5561952Abstract: An improved roof ventilator is disclosed for venting an attic space while simultaneously admitting sunlight into same. One version of the invention comprises a base/flange having a centrally extruding conduit therethrough, a louvered hood member connectable to the conduit wall to achieve a fixed elevation thereby creating a baffle which restricts water infiltration. The hood further comprises a translucent oriel which is self-aligning to the conduit opening upon the installation of the hood to the base/flange. Another version of the invention comprises the oriel of the hood and the base/flange conjoined with a trim collar to form a skylight only. Used in pairs, the first skylight member is installed to the exterior of a pitched roof with the trim collar elevated within the roof structure. The second member, having a smaller diameter trim collar, is installed from the interior and mated to the first member whereas both collars telescopingly communicate to adapt to the various thicknesses of roof structures.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1994Date of Patent: October 8, 1996Assignee: Tapco International CorporationInventor: Matthew S. Patent number: 4237362Abstract: Disclosed are methods of producing hardfaced plate which eliminates distortion while making weld deposits along the length of a sheet-like plate of relatively ductile and weldable material by securing the plate about a cylindrical supporting surface, then welding hardfacing material to the plate's surface which causes the plate to shrink against and be supported by the cylindrical surface which effectively maintains the plate against substantial distortion during the welding. The plate with the welded hardfacing material is then removed from the cylindrical surface. Preferably, the composition of the hardfacing material is such as to form random cracks at a frequency of not less than about one in each three inches upon cooling from the welding temperature, and preferably of the order of about 5/8" to about 3/4".Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1978Date of Patent: December 2, 1980Assignee: Tapco International, Inc.Inventor: Roman F.
