  • Patent number: 5899132
Abstract: A portable saw table which comprises an elongated saw table and a saw track pivotally mounted therebetween for a rotation about an axis substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the table base. A saw slide mounted on the saw track and supports a portable saw. A support at each end of the saw table allows the portable saw table to be tilted relative to the supports about a second axis parallel to the axis of the table. A sector member is pivotally connected to the table base so that as the table base is tilted, the sector member is moved in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the saw table. The sector member provides stability and guides the table and saw track. Thus, the table base, saw track and sector member can be tilted relative to the supports while the saw track is allowed to pivot relative to the table base and the sector member. A locking device on the supports engages the sector member to lock the saw table in a tilted position.

  • Patent number: 5651298
Abstract: A portable saw table comprising a saw track pivotally supported on a saw table. An improved lightweight plastic protractor and indexer plate are rotatably mounted with respect to each other by an improved pivot mount. The pivot mount comprises a plurality of lobes received in a complementary recess in the indexer plate in a spline-like engagement providing strength and rigidity to prevent flexing to ensure accurate pivotal movement. The improved protractor is guided by a gib mounted on the indexer plate for smooth pivotal movement. The plastic protractor includes indicia to indicate the degree of angular movement and the plastic indexer plate includes a window for viewing the indicia. In one form, the protractor has an angled portion with indicia and the indexer plate has an angled magnifying sight lens for easy viewing of the adjustment angle. A hollow material stop is provided to accommodate workpieces of varying thickness.

  • Patent number: 5404779
Abstract: A portable saw table comprising a saw track pivotally supported on a saw table for guiding a slide plate on which a portable power saw having a rotary blade is mounted for guiding the saw as it is moved along the track to cut a workpiece. An adjustable mounting assembly supports the portable saw in a plurality of angularly adjusted positions such that the plane of the saw blade is at an angle to the slide plate and the periphery of the cutting edge of the saw blade is maintained substantially in the same kerf line in the saw table that supports the workpiece at substantially the same depth in each of the adjusted positions. The mounting assembly also supports the saw for use in a saw chopping mode.

  • Patent number: 5353620
Abstract: A sheet bending brake comprises a frame having a fixed jaw and a movable jaw. The fixed jaw defines a clamping surface and the movable jaw has a clamping surface movable between workpiece clamping and non-clamping positions relative to the clamping surface on the fixed jaw. A bending member is hingedly connected to the fixed jaw. A handle is pivoted to the frame. A plurality of axially extensible links are provided. Each link is pivoted at one end to the handle and at the other end to the movable jaw such that in one position of the handle, the links move the movable jaw out of clamping position, and in another position of the handle, the movable jaw is in clamping position. Each link includes an upper block connected to the frame, a shaft extending from the upper block and rotatable therein and threaded into a lower block pivoted to the movable jaw. The shaft has a socket connection in the upper end thereof accessible through an opening in the upper block.

  • Patent number: 5060431
Abstract: A ridge roof vent adapted to be mounted on the ridge of a roof and comprising a top wall that is spaced from the remainder of the vent and is adapted to receive overlapping pieces of shingle roofing material comprising transversely extending primary indicia provided along the length of the ridge roof vent and including secondary transverse indicia associated with the transverse primary indicia in repetitive series. Each series of transverse primary indicia spans a distance less than the length of a shingle piece. The transverse primary indicia associated with the secondary indicia are positioned such that when a first shingle piece is applied from one end, the end of the shingle piece will be positioned between a pair of equally spaced secondary indicia and can be used to provide an overlap of the ends of the shingle pieces without the need for measurement.

  • Patent number: 5009149
Abstract: A roof vent comprising a one piece plastic body including a base wall having transversely spaced rows of integral vanes extending from one surface thereof. The vanes of adjacent rows are positioned such that the vanes define a sinuous path. Preferably, one of each of the rows has the wings extending at an acute angle to the axis of the wall and the other row of each set of rows has the wings extending at an oppositely directed acute axis to the longitudinal axis of the wall toward the wings of the one row. Thus air is vented through sinuous paths outwardly when the vent is positioned with the wings engaging the roof and the base wall spaced from the roof. Water and snow are prevented by the wings from entry beneath the vent into the building.

  • Patent number: 5000409
Abstract: A one piece wall mounting bracket comprising a plastic body including a front wall and an integral peripheral wall extending from the front wall and having a free edge. Diametrically opposed portions of the free edge of the peripheral wall are formed with notches such that those peripheral portions can engage siding on wall of a building. The portions with the notches are preferably convex to firmly engage the siding. These wall portions can be readily severed to form a straight edge. A portion of the free edge of the wall is formed with a groove for receiving caulking. The groove is defined by a radially peripheral bead on the free edge which includes spaced walls forming the groove for receiving caulking compounds.

  • Patent number: 4951540
Abstract: A shingle ridge cap cutter utilized for cutting uniform sections from roof shingles comprising a frame along which a shingle is guided to a manually operated cutter that comprises spaced blades that are moved to sever a section of the shingle. The cutter blades are provided in spaced-apart, non parallel relationship so that a combined rectangular and trapezoidal-shaped ridge cap is made by single movement of the cutter with the roof shingle positioned so that the cutter blades are aligned with the slots along one edge of the shingle. Provision is made for operation to prevent injury to the hands of the worker.

  • Patent number: 4766757
Abstract: A sheet bending brake comprising a frame having a fixed jaw and a movable jaw and an anvil member adjustably secured to the movable jaw. The fixed jaw has a clamping surface movable between workpiece clamping and non-clamping positions relative to the clamping surface of the fixed jaw. A bending member is hingedly connected to the fixed jaw. The movable jaw is releasably locked in workpiece clamping position by a structure that includes a plurality of extensible links that are pivoted at one end to the movable jaw and at the other end to a handle. By manipulating the handle the links are moved to move the movable jaw into and out of locked clamping position. Each link is axially adjustable in length to lengthen or shorten it and includes a resilient portion to accommodate manufacturing variations or tolerances in the thickness of the sheet material being bent and to facilitate locking and unlocking of the sheet material.

  • Patent number: 4765110
Abstract: An adjustable length shutter assembly of molded plastic modular construction comprising a pair of side rails which may be cut to desired length, one or more shutter panels slidably received within parallel double-channel tracks extending along the opposing side rails, and upper and lower end rails extending between the side rails and capturing the shutter panels in assembly. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, at least two shutter panels are carried between the shutter side rails and are separated from each other by a mullion piece. In accordance with one important feature of the present invention, the end rails and the mullion piece are so constructed as to overlap the edges of the side rails and shutter panels which are adapted to be adjustably trimmed during the installation process so as to reduce fading and structural deterioration at the cut edges due to exposure to ultraviolet solar radiation.
