Abstract: An embodiment of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) concept with vanes coupled to central shaft thorough supports that are connected in such a way that vanes can be moved closer or further away from the central shaft of the wind turbine. The rotational speed of the wind turbine can be regulated by adjusting the distance of the vanes. Additionally, the turbine can be put into storm protection mode by bringing the vanes right next to the central shaft where the profile of the wind turbine is reduced to minimum.

Abstract: The invention uses plurality of forward-looking preview cameras each looking at different nadir angle viewpoint to get cloud information from approaching target areas. The invention uses fuzzy logic system and other decision mechanisms to decide which target images should be acquired in which particular sequence and when the target image acquisition should start. The invention intends to give autonomous decision capability to agile earth observation satellites to make decision on their own to get the highest yield of quality images of target areas.
