Abstract: A closure system for a sliding main door and a sliding screen door system of the type typically used in houses and some commercial buildings operates to permit three modes of operation of the sliding screen door and the sliding main door relative to one another. In a first mode of operation handles on the doors freely pass by one another and the two doors may be operated completely independently of one another. The handle on the sliding screen door is capable of movement to different vertical positions; and in another position, cooperating surfaces on the two handles cause the sliding screen door always to be closed when the main door is closed. When the main door is opened, however, the sliding screen door in this mode is capable of movement back and forth independently of the main door to the extent of the opening of the sliding main door.

Abstract: A combination handle and latching mechanism for sliding doors and windows includes a section of a first extrusion, in the form of an elongated base member which is secured to the frame. Two spaced angled slots are formed through the base member, with a first end near the frame and a second end located a greater distance from the frame when the base member is secured to the frame. A movable operating member overlies the base member and has rods therethrough and passing through the first and second slots to permit the operating member to be moved from a first position with the rods located in the slots at the end nearest the frame to a second position with the rods located in the slots at a greater distance from the frame to move the operating member from a position near the frame to a position away from the frame. An inwardly turned latching flange extends along one side of the operating member to overlie an outwardly extending flange adjacent the frame.

Abstract: A replacement window frame assembly includes bottom, sectioned-top, and first and second side cap members for placement over an existing window frame in a building from which the windows and intermediate support members have been removed. The cap members are made from a uniform aluminum extrusion which has a front lip to extend over the outside of the existing frame, and a lower depending lip, designed to rest on the window sill, or abut against the side and top of the frame opening in which the original frame is placed. The cap members are placed over the existing window frame to form a flat mounting surface for the installation of a replacement window. The entire replacement may be effected from the outside of the building, and is accomplished without destroying or damaging any of the interior or exterior finishes of the building.
