Abstract: A voice communication system (500) comprises a globally distributed, universally accessible multi-protocol hosted platform (100), which may be used, for example, by a single user, group of users, a team, family or a small business. The system effectively enables subscribers to create an ad hoc micro PBX/phone system in the cloud, by arranging and organizing multiple contacts, multiple destinations per contact and calling groups with multiple contacts per group. Nested groupings provided in embodiments of the invention provide high levels of convenience, and an integrated multi-protocol framework for reachability of contacts, to create a comprehensive calling service with enhanced capabilities accessible from any subscriber device, or other voice communication device, across international borders.
