  • Patent number: 6913102
Abstract: A working vehicle with a traversing system wherein a front wheel is installed on a swing member rotatable about a vertical axis relative to a body and including a rotating cylinder for rotating the swing member. The entire part of the front wheel is formed compact in connection with a drivingly running device stored in the swing range of the front wheel. A battery mountable on the body comprises a wide front part movable in the vehicle longitudinal direction between rear wheels in the straight forward running attitude. A narrow rear part is positioned between the rear wheels in the transverse running attitude, whereby the attachment and detachment of the wheel can be preformed easily and can be mounted stably.

  • Patent number: 6889805
Abstract: A check valve is installed in a hydraulic line for hydraulic oil to be fed to a forward movement hydraulic clutch, while an accumulator for accumulating some amount of the hydraulic oil fed to the hydraulic clutch is installed between the check valve and the hydraulic clutch. Further installed is a control spool that is operated by the hydraulic oil fed to the forward movement hydraulic clutch and that cooperates with the check valve to hold the hydraulic oil accumulated in the accumulator. According to this arrangement, even if the oil pressure drops momentarily due to a speed gear shift, the pressure for the hydraulic clutch before the gear shift is held by the hydraulic oil accumulated in the accumulator. Thus, a delay in torque restoration due to a slip of the hydraulic clutch can be eliminated, so that an operator can be freed from having a feeling of torque loss or a shock, and a feeling of uneasiness such as a feeling of reversing on an uphill slope, during the gear shift.

  • Patent number: 6866113
Abstract: A vehicle body (2) is provided with a pair of right and left front wheels (3) and a pair of right and left rear wheels (4), these wheels being adapted to be turned through 90 degrees. The front wheels (3) are attached to turning members (24) installed on the vehicle body (2) for turning around vertical axes (23), and turning means (40) are installed for turning the turning members (24). The front wheels (3) are operatively connected to travel drive means (30) respectively attached to the turning members (24). The travel drive means (30) extend rearward from the inner sides of the front wheels (3). Masts (6) are installed on the front end of the vehicle body (2), and forks (13) are installed on the masts (6). The front wheels are of the type in which they can be steered to turn sideways. And the travel drive means do not require the masts to be positioned more forwardly of the front wheels than necessary and the longitudinal balance can be satisfactorily maintained without increasing the self-weight.

  • Patent number: 6854552
Abstract: A fork lift with a traverse travel system, wherein a pair of right and left front wheels (3) and a pair of rear wheels (4) can be steered to face sideways at a right angle relative to a body (2), the front wheel (3) is mounted to a turning member (27) installed on a mast (6) to be turnable around a vertical axis (26) and a rotating apparatus (40) is provided for the turning member (27), the front wheel (3) is operatively connected to a travel drive device (30) installed on the turning member (27), and the travel drive device (30) can also be rotated together with the turning member (27) when the front wheels (3) are steered sideways at a right angle and positioned outside of the outer surface of the mast. Thus, the mast (6) needs not be disposed unnecessarily forward of the front wheels (3) for the sake of the travel drive device (30), and the balance of the body in the longitudinal direction can be preferably kept without increasing its self weight.

  • Patent number: 6793036
Abstract: A working vehicle with a transverse system, wherein when a traveling mode is switched to transverse traveling, a switching valve is switched to feed a full flow of pressure oil from a hydraulic pump to a flow divider. The flow divider controls the flow to allow a specified amount of flow to flow to a control valve for a hydraulic operating device. The control valve controls only the pressure oil required for steering to allow oil to flow to the hydraulic operating device so as to operate a hydraulic operating device to rotate both swing members about a vertical axis, thereby to steer both front wheels through 90 degrees. After both front wheels are steered, the vehicle can run transversely in lateral directions by controllably rotating both front wheels.

  • Patent number: 6732824
Abstract: Front wheels and rear wheels are mounted to a vehicle body to be steerable by 90 degrees. Right and left front wheels are connected to the turning members which are capable of rotating around vertical axes in relation to the vehicle body though individual electric drive motors. Each electric motor has an external casing integrally formed with each turning member, and allows a drive shaft and a rotor to be accommodated and rotatable therein. Each drive shaft is connected to the front wheel, and an apparatus for rotating the turning member is provided. This allows the driving front wheels to be steered straight sideways and the electric motor to be readily assembled and arranged compact.

  • Patent number: 6732831
Abstract: A fork lift with a laterally travelling system, wherein when a running mode is switched from a normal running in which right and left front wheels and rear wheels face in a longitudinal direction to a lateral running, rotating means is operated to rotate a turning member about a vertical axis in order to change the direction of the front wheels relative to that of a vehicle body, a change in running direction can be performed smoothly because the front wheels are formed integrally with a running drive device, and the front wheels are driven in forward and reverse directions by the running drive device after the front wheels are turned to face sideways so that a fork lift can run laterally and the rear wheels can be changed in direction in a follow-up manner by a turning caster system or can be changed in direction forcibly in the same manner as the front wheels, whereby the wheels of a drive system, though the fork lift is of a type capable of performing a normal forking operation, can be steered to face side

  • Patent number: 6557658
Abstract: During ordinary travel, a direction change cylinder (51) is actuated by an orbit roll (58) by turning a steering wheel (16) right and left, so that the rear wheels (4) can be turned for direction change in response to the operation of the steering wheel. When the direction change cylinder is actuated to the limit, the right and left rear wheels can be turned for direction change into an inclined state with their rear ends approaching each other, thereby making it possible to make a pivot turn. The front and rear wheel turning devices (30, 50) are actuated to turn the front wheels (3) and rear wheels around vertical axes (27, 49) for direction change by 90 degrees (directed exactly sideways). At this time, in the rear wheel turning device, with the direction change cylinder put in the neutral position, the rear wheel transverse travel cylinders (53) are actuated to turn the rear wheels for direction change by 90 degrees.

  • Patent number: 6554084
Abstract: Front wheels (3A, 3B) are operably connected to hydraulic motors (21A, 21B), and hydraulic pumps (26A, 26B) driven by an engine (25) are provided, each hydraulic pump (26A, 26B) being connected to one of the hydraulic motors (21A, 21B). Control of speed is effected by switching the direction of oil flow from the hydraulic pumps (26A, 26B), changing the direction of rotation of the hydraulic motors (21A, 21B), controlling the rpm of the engine (25) and the flow rate of oil from the hydraulic pumps (26A, 26B), and changing the rpm's of the hydraulic motors (21A, 21B). Control of turning is made possible by controlling, based on the turning angle of a steering wheel or the turning angles of the rear wheels, the respective rotation speeds (equal or different) or the respective directions of rotation (same or opposite) of the front wheels (3A, 3B). Provided is a hydraulically driven forklift employing a 2-pump 2-motor system, which improves maneuverability and reduces the turning radius.
