Abstract: An adjustable hinge set and a method for making it improves mounting of a deck lid to a motor vehicle body by permitting mass production adjustments without distortion or multiplication of the parts installed. A hinge set bracket with spaced flanges receiving a pivot strap and pivot therebetween is formed with a substantially vertical slot in each flange. At least one insert having a collar and a stem, reinforces the spacing between the support flanges, as the pivot pin compressionally engages the flanges. Preferably, two inserts having a collar and a stem have a combined length that reinforces the predetermined spacing within a predetermined tolerance when compression is adjusted.

Abstract: A method performed and apparatus formed to fabricate an Isofix latch wire arrangement bends an elongated strip about an open profile to form an elongated tubular member, radially penetrating the member with wires across the open profile, and forming enlarged portions on the legs. The enlargements engage opposite sides of the tube to complete abutment of the strip edges to close the profile and join the wires as rivets to the tubular member formed.

Abstract: A tailgate counterbalancing hinge assembly includes a linear torque rod, a first end assembly and a second end assembly secured to the torque rod. One end assembly pivotally supports the tailgate while permitting a torque rod end to be rigidly coupled to the tailgate for movement with the tailgate about a pivot axis. The other end assembly also pivotally supports the tailgate and permits the other end of the torque rod to be rigidly connected to the vehicle body. The assemblies are easily mounted in the vehicle by means of brackets secured to the tailgate, and a vehicle body hinge pin combines bushings with an aligned, elongated key to simplify installation and removal of the counterbalancing hinge assembly.

Abstract: A hinge assembly (22) for mounting a deck lid (24) to a vehicle body (28) is disclosed. The hinge assembly (22) comprises a mount (36), an elongate strap (38) and a swivel (44) for swivelably attaching the strap (38) to the mount (36). The swivel (44) is preferably a ball which cooperates with a socket. Ideally, the hinge assembly (22) includes a translatable screw or rod (45) which provides for height adjustment of a deck lid (24) with respect to a vehicle body (28).
