Abstract: A rotatable throat assembly for a coal pulverizer which includes a plurality of throat segments secured to a ring seat in the pulverizer, a plurality of ledge cover segments on the throat segments, and a plurality of air seal segments secured on top of the ledge cover segments wherein the air seal segments each includes a layer of flexible, durable, high temperature-resistant polymer/rubber material projecting to within close proximity to the inner wall of the pulverizer to substantially block air flow between the rotatable throat assembly and the inner wall of the pulverizer.
