Abstract: The invention relates to a load-carrying structure for making volume-enclosing constructions for placing against buildings, and in particular for volume-enclosing constructions having an outside surface with at least two intersecting planes, with at least one of said planes being defined by two parallel load-carrying bars. In accordance with the invention, the line of intersection bars (5, 6) together with link means (11, 12, 13, 15) which are provided for interconnecting the intersection bars, said link means engaging in bar stubs and providing a pivot hinge. The invention is particularly applicable to providing glazed extensions to buildings.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for assembling two shaped sections (1, 2) at intersecting directions. This method consists in engaging one of the shaped sections, 2, into a slot fashioned in the other 1, and in locking the latter using cotters 3 comprising a rod with a thinned segment on part of its periphery; each cotter is introduced by simple sliding action in a hole with its thinned part in contact with the shaped section 2 and then is made to pivot to ensure the locking.The invention is applicable in particular to the housing and construction industries to assemble balustrade or stairway uprights and rails.

Abstract: A guard rail comprising stiffening posts, a bottom rail and a top rail connecting the posts, is fastened to a building element, for instance a concrete slab, by a fastening device. The device comprises an anchor plate permanently secured to the building element and having an upper spherical support surface. A base plate has a lower support surface received by the support surface of the anchor plate. The upper portion of the base plate has a projecting collar which receives one of said posts in vertical position. The amount of horizontal offset of the collar is such that the posts and the bottom rail may be in contact with the building element.

Abstract: This invention relates to a tie member which enables an angle joint to be produced between two obliquely cut hollow members, and consists of two non-deformable parts each of which has two arms adapted to fit into one or other of the hollow members to be joined, and means for moving one part relative to the other to enable them to be moved apart. One of the parts includes two retractable plungers which slide in openings in its arms and which are each subject to thrust from a spring which causes them to project towards the facing wall of one of the hollow members so that they will enter a bore formed in this wall. The arms of the two parts are resiliently connected together, in particular by the springs to prevent the parts from becoming detached from one another.The tie member according to the invention enables a joint to be made under conditions of remarkable ease and simplicity, and automatically ensures that the hollow members are properly clamped against one another.
