  • Patent number: 4659275
Abstract: A barge tipper comprises a cylindrical floating apparatus 10 defining a chamber 18 into which a barge 28 can be floated. End doors 16 at either end of the apparatus 10 are closed and the barge 28 is clamped in position by hydraulically operated clamps 20. Water is pumped from the chamber 18 to ballast tanks 12 and 14, causing the apparatus to rotate and thus tipping the barge 28. The contents of the barge 28 flow into a first conveyor 22 and are delivered to a second circumferential conveyor 24 which feeds the material to an external conveyor 26.

  • Patent number: 4614686
Abstract: A textured synthetic running surface and the like comprising a urethane elastomer base having thoroughly dispersed granular particles of urethane or rubber elastomers. Shredded particles of solid urethane or rubber of a nominal maximum dimension of from 0.062 to 0.125 inches are dispersed through the elastomer base and totally encapsulated thereby in concentrations of 26% to 32% by weight to provide a non-slip resilient running surface. The surface is applied by mixing two parts of liquid urethane elastomer in a mixing drum followed by mixing in of the granular particles in measured batches. The batched mixture is discharged from the mixing drum to a hopper which feeds the mixture by way of a pump to an application gun.

  • Patent number: 4161963
Abstract: An ion exchange liquid treatment apparatus including a tank having an upwardly dished bottom wall and a distributor of the type having a central header and a plurality of distributor conduits extending outwardly from this header. Each distributor conduit is formed of a first straight conduit section that extends generally radially outwardly from the header and a second straight conduit section that is connected to the first conduit section by a pipe elbow whereby the second conduit section can be positioned oblique to a plane through the longitudinal axis of the tank and at a shallow angle to a plane perpendicular to the tank axis to generally conform to the contour of the dished bottom wall of the tank. Each of the second distributor conduit sections preferably have lateral conduits extending transverse thereto to achieve generally uniform liquid flow throughout the cross-section of the tank.
