  • Patent number: 5416994
Abstract: A liquid display device comprises an elongated, transparent, cylindrical display tube containing a column of liquid and including a light-transmitting base. A pedestal supports the display tube and includes a light-transmitting top plate on which the base of the display tube is seated. An impeller within the display tube rotates the liquid within the tube. The pedestal contains a reversible motor for driving the impeller, lights for lighting the contents of the display tube through the light-transmitting base and top plate, and air pumps for forcing air into the liquid within the display tube. A series of timers controls the operation of the motor, air pump and lights to create continuously changing turbulence patterns in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 5282438
Abstract: An aquarium comprises a bifurcated pedestal and a cylindrical transparent viewing tank mounted within the arms of the pedestal. The pedestal contains a reservoir beneath the viewing tank, the volume of the reservoir being sufficient to hold the contents of the viewing tank. A secondary fish tank or drawer is mounted within the pedestal beneath the reservoir. The fish drawer contains gravel and aquarium plants, and fish can move freely between the viewing tank and fish drawer. The fish drawer is removable from the pedestal to replace the fish and/or aquarium plants during which time water from the viewing tank is stored in the reservoir. Water filters are provided within the pedestal with water conduits arranged so that when the viewing tank is filled with water, water flows under the influence of gravity from the fish drawer up to the filter and then back to the reservoir. Pumps within the reservoir pump the water into the viewing tank.

  • Patent number: 4893806
Abstract: A pinch roller is be retrofitted to existing automatic teller machines (ATMs) to eliminate misfeeding of deposit envelopes. The pinch roller is secured between the frame members for the conveyor belts which serve to transport the envelopes. The pinch roller mechanism can be adapted to the ATMs without the necessity of drilling new holes into the frame members since an existing hole (previously unused) and a bolt are used for securing the pinch roller mechanism. Specifically, the pinch roller is located between the frame members above the foam-like drive roller for the conveyor belt. A pinch roller axle, in the form of a hex-head bolt having its other end provided with internal screw threads, passes through an aperture already existing in one of the frame members and is secured to an exposed bolt, securing a motor housing to the frame members. Also, the pinch roller is chamfered on its ends to facilitate ease of insertion between the frame members.
