Patent number: 9172034Abstract: A memory cell (32C), including a first non-insulator (34C) and a second non-insulator (40C), different from the first non-insulator. The second non-insulator forms a junction (46C) with the first non-insulator. The cell further includes a first electrode (48C) which is connected to the first non-insulator and a second electrode (50C) which is connected to the second non-insulator. At least one of the first and second non-insulators is chosen from a group consisting of a solid electrolyte and a mixed ionic electronic conductor and has an ionic transference number less than 1 and greater than or equal to 0.5.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2011Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Assignee: TECHNION RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATIONInventor: Avner Rothschild

Publication number: 20080077258Abstract: A twisted wire actuator, whereby the shortening of the length of a wire or a bundle of wires, as it is twisted, is used to control the motion of an actuated element, achieving sub-micron motion resolution. The control can be performed robotically. The high resolution can be achieved without the use of gears, sliders, or high precision lead screws, thus enabling a simplified actuation system and eliminating sources of friction. The use of wires operating in opposing directions and having oppositely directed rotations significantly reduces the non-linearity effect inherent in twisted wire actuation, resulting in a system having a good level of motion linearity as a function of control input impulse. The use of multiple twisted wires attached to the actuated element at different angles, enables the implementation of robotic systems with multiple degrees of freedom. Several experimental actuators verify these results.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2004Publication date: March 27, 2008Applicant: Technion research & Development FoundationInventor: Moshe Shoham

Patent number: 5365185Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a frequency-controlled loop in a phase-diversity receiver for demodulating received ON-OFF-keyed (OOK) and phase shift keying (PSK) signals, by feeding a reference frequency signal and the received signals to a quadrature mixer (QM) which produces two output signals in phase quadrature at nominally zero intermediate frequency. Quadrature continuous wave signals void of the modulation are produced from the phase quadrature output signals. A voltage proportional to the frequency of the quadrature continuous wave signals is generated and is utilized for controlling the frequency of the generated reference frequency signal.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1993Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Assignee: Technion Research & Development FoundationInventor: Israel Bar-David

Patent number: 4704851Abstract: A power-driven structure comprises a long grider (I) supported at its both ends by self-propelled carriages (II) which raise and lower the girder, the implement being designed for travel across planted fields or orchards without compacting the soil. Various implements, such as a cotton harvester (34), a potato picker (VIII) or a fruit collecting device may be suspended from, and propelled along, the girder (I). A mechanical conveyor (15) extends along the top of the girder, and a pneumatic conveyor system (13) is arranged underneath the mechanical conveyor. The pneumatic conveyor system is provided with spaced nozzles (40) for connection to flexible suction pipes (34).Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1986Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Technion Research & Development FoundationInventor: Gedalyahu Manor

Patent number: 4227358Abstract: A building element for the construction of self-supporting interlocking grids which may be used, for example, as floors or roofs, comprises a beam having a longitudinally protruding projection at each end, and having at least one recess of sufficient size to receive the longitudinally protruding projection from a second identical beam. The projection from a third such beam rests on the recess of the second, the projection of a fourth such beam rests in the recess of the third, and the projection of the first beam rests in the recess of the fourth. Thus, the four beams are rigidly connected in a statically determinate self-supporting manner. An entire grid of such joints may be made as well as light arched and domed roof structures.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1978Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Assignee: Technion Research & Development FoundationInventor: Daniel Gat
