  • Patent number: 9098833
Abstract: This paper proposes a new method and architecture for populating, updating and managing the NAB. It also proposes user's Contact Information Discovery (CID). In context of populating the NAB; since the NAB of each individual subscriber will be stored in the network in future, the paper proposes CI to flow from one NAB to another NAB within the core network, instead of CI flowing from Device to Network. Thus with the user authorization, his CI would shoot from one NAB to another NAB within the core network instead of from LAB to NAB through air interface. It would reduce huge amount of data traffic on the air that otherwise would be generated in updating and populating the NAB by all the NAB users. In context of CID, the paper proposes a query-response mechanism and introduces a NAB Manager. The new architecture will provide several benefits for example it will eliminate the need of “Number Portability,” “United States National Do Not Call Registry” and “411 Directory Assistance.

Abstract: One or more system and/or method of dynamically setting values of Channel Access Parameters employing a Load Supervision Manager entity, a Quality of Service Parameters Manager entity, and an Access Point. The entities work with the Access Point and continuously monitors network loading conditions and setting Channel Access Parameters values in response to network loading conditions. The Load Supervision Manager is a controlling and/or supervisory entity that sits at a network level receives information from the QoS Parameters Manager which sits at a subnet level, and judges prevailing loading conditions. The prevailing loading conditions include such factors as the number of Mobile Nodes and the applications or ACs they are running on in each subnet. The QoS Parameters Manager assesses the possible near future loading condition in each subnet including monitoring the hand-off Mobile Nodes and issues directives to QoS Parameters Managers.

  • Publication number: 20150215235
Abstract: Constraining resource provisioning by domain controllers based on resource requirements projected for remotely-originating inter-domain traffic can improve utilization efficiency and link reliability in multi-domain software defined network (SDN) architectures. A domain controller may be required to reserve a portion of inter-domain link capacity for transporting remotely-originating traffic. This may limit the inter-domain link capacity available for transporting locally-originating traffic in a manner that ensures remotely-originating traffic flows have equitable and/or adequate access to resources of inter-domain links. Alternatively, a domain controller may be required to maintain a minimum throughput rate for remotely-originating traffic, which may cause remotely-originating traffic to be prioritized over locally-originating traffic when necessary to maintain the minimum throughput rate. Provisioning constraints can be generated in a centralized or distributed fashion.

  • Publication number: 20150212883
Abstract: Techniques for efficiently programming non-volatile storage are disclosed. A second page of data may efficiently be programmed into memory cells that already store a first page. Data may be efficiently transferred from single bit cells to multi-bit cells. Memory cells are read using at least two different read levels. The results are compared to determine a count how many memory cells showed a different result between the two reads. If the count is less than a threshold, then data from the memory cells is stored into a set of data latches without attempting to correct for misreads. If the count is not less than the threshold, then data from the memory cells is stored into the set of data latches with attempting to correct for misreads. A programming operation may be performed based on the data stored in the set of data latches.

  • Publication number: 20150212947
Abstract: A microprocessor includes a cache memory and a control module. The control module makes the cache size zero and subsequently make it between zero and a full size of the cache, counts a number of evictions from the cache after making the size between zero and full and increase the size when the number of evictions reaches a predetermined number of evictions. Alternatively, a microprocessor includes: multiple cores, each having a first cache memory; a second cache memory shared by the cores; and a control module. The control module puts all the cores to sleep and makes the second cache size zero and receives a command to wakeup one of the cores. The control module counts a number of evictions from the first cache of the awakened core after receiving the command and makes the second cache size non-zero when the number of evictions reaches a predetermined number of evictions.

  • Patent number: 9089786
Abstract: In a building equipped with a plurality of motion-enabled chairs such as a movie theatre, the vibration of the motion-enabled chairs adds up and may damage the foundation of the building especially at the resonance frequency. The present application describes a system and method for controlling the resulting vibration by introducing an alteration such as a delay or an inversion in the motion signals sent to the motion-enabled chairs. This delay causes the vibration of some motion-enabled chairs to be de-phased from the vibration of the other motion-enabled chairs. Whereby, the intensity (magnitude) of the resulting vibration is reduced. Control of the motion-enabled chairs may be done centrally through a central controller, or locally at selected motion-enabled chairs.

  • Patent number: 9094539
Abstract: An electronic device performs functionality adjustments based on a determined attention level of a user of the device. In some embodiments, the device automatically enters a sleep mode upon determining that the user has fallen asleep. The device may automatically modify functionality of the device such that disturbances to the user is minimized or power consumption is reduced. For example, the device may lower the volume of a ring tone or deactivate a communication channel. In some instances, the device may determine that the user is half-awake or paying an intermediate level of attention and activate an intermediate mode where at least some functionality is modified or adjusted. A device subsequently determining that the user is fully awake or actively engaged with the device causes the device to return to a standard mode of operation, where functionality of the device is adjusted to one appropriate for the user's attention level.
