Publication number: 20150179260Abstract: A method of shaping data includes receiving data represented as a first set of bits, where each bit of the first set of bits corresponds to a logical value. A first write current to write a first logical value to a storage element is less than a second write current to write a second logical value to the storage element. The method also includes applying a shaping operation to generate a second set of bits, where a proportion of bits having the first logical value is larger for the second set of bits than for the first set of bits. The method also includes writing the second set of bits to the memory.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: SANDISK TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: ERAN SHARON, TZ-YI LIU, TIANHONG YAN, IDAN ALROD

Publication number: 20150181661Abstract: A linear light-emitting diode (LED)-based solid-state universal lamp using a frequency sensing and control mechanism operates normally with both an electronic ballast and the AC mains. The frequency sensing and control mechanism automatically detects voltage types associated with output voltages from the ballast and the AC mains in a single-ended or a double-ended lamp fixture and makes proper management so that the universal lamp works for either case and in either fixture without operational uncertainty. When two shock protection switches are used in two lamp bases, the universal lamp fully protects a person from possible electric shock during initial installation and re-lamping.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2014Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: LIGHTEL TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Chungho Hsia, Pai-Sheng Shen

Publication number: 20150179275Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for determining whether there is a defect that occurred as a result of programming non-volatile storage elements. Example defects include: broken word lines, control gate to substrate shorts, word line to word line shorts, double writes, etc. The memory cells may be programmed such that there will be a substantially even distribution of the memory cells in different data states. After programming, the memory cells are sensed at one or more reference levels. Two sub-groups of memory cells are strategically formed based on the sensing to enable detection of defects in a simple and efficient manner. The sub-groups may have a certain degree of separation of the data states to avoid missing a defect. The number of memory cells in one sub-group is compared with the other. If there is a significant imbalance between the two sub-groups, then a defect is detected.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2013Publication date: June 25, 2015Applicant: SANDISK TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: Rohan Patel, Eugene Tam, Pao-Ling Koh

Publication number: 20150173635Abstract: A biocompatible, implantable electrode for electrically active medical devices. The implantable medical electrode has a surface geometry which optimizes the electrical performance of the electrode, while mitigating the undesirable effects associated with prior art porous surfaces. The electrode has an optimized surface topography for improved electrical performance. Such a electrode is suitable for devices which may be permanently implanted in the human body as stimulation electrodes, such as pacemakers, or as sensors of medical conditions.
