  • Publication number: 20150151922
Abstract: The present invention relates to conveyor belts having rip detection systems which utilize microcoil sensor wires which offer improved durability as compared to conventional microcoil sensor wires. This higher degree of durability increases service life of the rip detection system and allows for the conveyor belt to be used reliably over an extended time period without the need to replace damaged microcoil sensor wires within the rip detection system of the conveyor belt. The present invention more specifically discloses a conveyor belt comprising (1) an elastomeric body having a load carrying surface and a parallel pulley engaging surface; (2) a reinforcement ply disposed within the elastomeric body; and (3) a rip detection sensor in the form of a microcoil sensor wire which is configured in an endless loop, wherein the microcoil sensor wire is comprised of an elastomeric core having an electrically conductive wire spirally wrapped around the elastomeric core.

  • Publication number: 20150156280
Abstract: Features are disclosed for determining preferred content request modes for client computing devices when initiating content requests. The request modes may correspond to direct requests (e.g., requests made from a client device directly to a content sever hosting requested content) or to indirect requests (e.g., requests made from the client device to the content server via an intermediary system). The preferred request modes made be based on a statistical analysis of performance data (e.g., prior content load times) obtained from one or more client computing devices for a given content item, group of content items (e.g., domain), and the like.

  • Publication number: 20150152602
Abstract: The invention generally relates to a security sheet or document having one or more enhanced watermarks. In one exemplary embodiment, the inventive security sheet or document is a single-ply paper that is made up of a paper layer including one or more watermarks, and a micro-optic security device (e.g., a patch or thread) that at least partially covers an upper or face portion of the watermark(s). The overlying patch or thread increases the durability of the watermark(s), thereby allowing for the watermark(s) as well as reduced fiber density areas therein to be made larger, and further allowing for the reduced fiber density areas to be made thinner. In a preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device projects one or more synthetic images that coordinate or link in with the watermark design(s). In a more preferred embodiment, the micro-optic security device offers a machine detectable/readable feature in the form of enhanced IR-brightness, especially when measured in transmission.

  • Publication number: 20150151380
Abstract: A method for laser processing of Silicon includes placing a Kerr material into engagement with the Silicon forming an interface therebetween. A laser beam is applied having at least one subpulse in a burst envelope operating at a first wavelength. The laser beam passes through a distributive lens focusing assembly and to the Kerr material. The first wavelength is modified to a plurality of second wavelengths, some of which are effective for processing Silicon. Photoacoustic compression processing is produced by the laser pulse energy by a portion of second wavelengths delivered through the interface and to the Silcon which initiates Kerr Effect self focusing which is propagated in the Silicon by additional energy input to the Silicon thus producing a filament within the Silicon.

  • Patent number: 9047504
Abstract: Approaches to enable a computing device, such as a phone or tablet computer, to utilize a number of cues to detect the presence of a face (or head) in an image captured by a camera of the computing device. The cues may include the elliptical shape of the face, the stereo disparity signature of the face, color or image brightness, among others. The facial detection may be performed by using a boosted classifier ensemble that has been trained using a plurality of images that are known (i.e., have been previously identified) to contain faces. The classifier ensemble can combine a number of different cues, such as the elliptical shape and/or stereo disparity signature, to be used for detecting faces within an image.

  • Patent number: 9047954
Abstract: Methods for compensating for variations in bit line resistance during sensing of memory cells are described. The variations in bit line resistance may occur die-to-die or plane-to-plane on the same die. In some embodiments, for each die or memory plane on a die, a plurality of bit line read voltages associated with a plurality of zones may be determined based on sensing criteria. The sensing criteria may comprise a number of fail bits. Each zone of the plurality of zones may be associated with a memory array region within a die or memory plane. Prior to performing a read or verify operation on a group of memory cells, a bit line read voltage used during sensing of the group of memory cells may be determined based on the plurality of bit line read voltages and a zone associated with the group of memory cells.

  • Patent number: RE45544
Abstract: In a memory system, a programming waveform reduces program noise by using sets of multiple adjacent sub-pulses which have a saw-tooth shape. In a set, an initial sub-pulse steps up from an initial level such as 0 V to a peak level, then steps down to an intermediate level, which is above the initial level. One or more subsequent sub-pulses of the set can step up from an intermediate level to a peak level, and then step back down to an intermediate level. A last sub-pulse of the set can step up from an intermediate level to a peak level, and then step back down to the initial level. A verify operation is performed after the set of sub-pulses. The number of sub-pulses per set can decrease in successive sets until a solitary pulse is applied toward the end of a programming operation.
