Publication number: 20140136314Abstract: An apparatus and method that give users the opportunity to identify which ad content is interesting and report information about these interested users to advertisers. The apparatus delivers digital visual advertising on the user's mobile device as part of an App's function. When the advertising message window appears, the user can dismiss the advertising message by touching the ad with a finger and swiping it left or right, depending on whether the user finds the ad content interesting or not. If interested, the user swipes the ad message to the right, and if not interested, swiping to the left; both action dismisses the ad and the user can resume activity prior to the ad message. The apparatus records the user's interest when the ad is swiped to the right and communicates this interest to the advertiser for future retargeted ads of similar content to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2013Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: GOLD POST TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Quyen Kiet, Barry Goldstein, Uttam Shah

Publication number: 20140132749Abstract: Methods and systems describe calculating an estimated focal point for a feature of interest within an ocular area of a subject using acquired test images and focal points. A curve is approximately fit to the defocus measurements located at different focal points. A maximum of the curve is identified that corresponds to an estimated focal point of the subject's iris. An image capture device can then record an approximately focused image of the iris using the estimated focal point. This reduces the time and computing resources needed to capture an image iris that is in focus where the subject may be located at a variable, unknown standoff distance. These methods and systems can be used for biometric identification using iris imaging, among other applications where quickly focusing an imaging system is advantageous.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2013Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: AOPTIX TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventor: Keith W. Publication number: 20140130531Abstract: A system includes a control module and a monitor module. The control module selectively operates a component of the system in an ON state. The system receives power from an electrical grid. The monitor module selectively detects a fault event of the electrical grid in response to (i) an amount of current drawn by the component or (ii) a voltage of power received by the component. In response to detecting the fault event, the control module switches the component from the ON state to a second state, determines a first delay period according to a random process, identifies an apparent conclusion of the fault event, and in response to the apparent conclusion of the fault, waits for the first delay period before switching the component back to the ON state. The component consumes less power in the second state than in the ON state.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2013Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Nagaraj JAYANTH, George RAMAYYA

Publication number: 20140133230Abstract: Methods for compensating for variations in bit line resistance during sensing of memory cells are described. The variations in bit line resistance may occur die-to-die or plane-to-plane on the same die. In some embodiments, for each die or memory plane on a die, a plurality of bit line read voltages associated with a plurality of zones may be determined based on sensing criteria such as a number of fail bits.
