Abstract: A synchronous bit-serial data interface utilizes a transmitter that transmits a data stream having duplicates of each data bit. The receiver samples the data stream utilizing either the rising or falling edge of a received clock signal. If the rising edge is utilized the first duplicated bit is discarded and if the falling edge is utilized the second duplicated bit is discarded. The system allows transmitter/receiver pairs of devices that sample and latch data on the same clock edge to communicate.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a substantially odorless biologically mediated treatment process for solid and liquid organic wastes. The present invention also provides for a novel nutrient rich humus material produced from the biologically mediated treatment process. The bioconversion process of the present invention results from low electron acceptor concentrations and high quantities of microorganisms in a diverse microbial community.
Abstract: Many storage-area networks (SANs) were developed to facilitate high-speed storage of large quantities of digital data. However, at least some conventional SANs present increased maintenance costs and complexities that can discourage their use. For example, in some SANs, its difficult and time consuming to properly reconfigure a Fiber Channel switch after a system failure since the switch is configurable by multiple entities. Accordingly, the present inventors devised, among other things, a method and systems for automatically maintaining and synchronizing one or more backup copies of configuration data.
Abstract: An integrated circuit may include at least one active optical device including a superlattice including a plurality of stacked groups of layers. Each group of layers of the superlattice may include a plurality of stacked base semiconductor monolayers defining a base semiconductor portion and an energy band-modifying layer thereon. The energy-band modifying layer may include at least one non-semiconductor monolayer constrained within a crystal lattice of adjacent base semiconductor portions. The integrated circuit may further include a waveguide coupled to the at least one active optical device.

Abstract: A CMOS image sensor includes a plurality of pixel circuits. Each pixel circuit includes a plurality of transistors. The image sensor includes a controller for controlling operation of the plurality of pixel circuits, wherein the controller is configured to cause at least one of the transistors in each pixel circuit to be placed in an accumulation mode and then switched from the accumulation mode to a strong inversion mode, thereby reducing 1/f noise of the pixel circuits.
Abstract: A wireless cellular network includes an access point selector that selects an access point for forwarding data from a wireless device. When data is received with an unacceptable quality level, the access point selector queries other access points for the same data. The queried access points send data quality information to the access point selector. The access point selector uses the data quality information for selecting another one of the access points to forward data from the wireless device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for adjusting the track density by changing the slope of spiral tracks used to servo write a disk drive. A target track density is established for a disk surface, and a plurality of spiral tracks are written to the disk surface in response to the target track density. Each spiral track comprises a high frequency signal interrupted at a predetermined interval by a sync mark, and a slope of the spiral tracks is selected in response to the target track density. The head internal to the disk drive is used to read the spiral tracks in order to write product servo sectors to the disk to define a plurality of data tracks, wherein the slope of the spiral tracks determines the density of the data tracks.
Abstract: A virtual overlay backup network is established to provide Fast Reroute capability with guaranteed bandwidth protection to a network that employs end-to-end circuits such as label switched paths (LSPs). In some implementations, backup bandwidth is allocated from an available backup bandwidth pool, as defined herein, available on each link. Complete bandwidth protection may be provided rapidly upon detection of a failure while available backup bandwidth is shared between independent failures. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by provisioning backup tunnels to protect all links and nodes, wherein total available backup bandwidth on any link is not exceeded by the requirements of backup tunnels protecting any single node but backup tunnels protecting different nodes may share bandwidth.

Abstract: A method of transmitting information over a feed back channel of a communication system that has multiple antenna systems is provided. Long term channel condition information is obtained from received measured and/or calculated channel parameter values. The obtained long term channel condition information is arranged in a particular manner and transmitted over a defined time period during which the long term channel condition information varies relatively slowly. Because the long term information remains relatively constant for one or more defined time periods, the amount of bandwidth needed to communicate this value is small because it need only be communicated occasionally. Thus only a small bandwidth needs to be allocated for transmitting this long term information.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for monitoring electrical characteristic on an electronic circuit board. This electrical characteristic can be voltage or current. The electrical characteristic is measured at a first location. The first location is at a high voltage called primary potential. The electrical characteristic is converted to a proportional frequency. The frequency is sent through an isolation circuit to a second location for monitoring. The second location is at a low voltage called secondary potential. The frequency is provided as input to an environment monitoring circuit at the second location.
Abstract: The membrane cover has fold lines therein intersecting the walls of the reservoir at intersection points. A geometric chord or secant joins two intersection points, and defines, with a portion of the walls of the reservoir, a static segment in the membrane cover. The membrane cover in the static segment is tensioned along lines of force that are parallel to or that make acute angles, with the aforesaid chord or secant. The membrane cover in the static segment remains substantially planar and stationary, thus static, despite the rising and lowering of the remaining portion of the cover in response to variations in the level of the content of the reservoir. A hatchway is mounted in the static segment of the cover. In another aspect of the invention, the hatchway has an airtight compartment extending between the membrane cover and a point below the level of the material inside the reservoir.
