Abstract: A ganged electrical connection system includes an arrangement having a spring including a plurality of engagement portions. A plurality of first connectors is receivably coupled in a plurality of receptacles in the arrangement and a plurality of second connectors is matable to the coupled first connectors along mating axes. The plurality of coupled first connectors have floatable movement in the plurality of receptacles. The floatable movement is in at least an axial direction in relation to the plurality of receptacles and the axial positional mating tolerance variation of each second connector in the plurality of second connectors in relation to each first connector in the plurality of coupled first connectors that manifests at each receptacle in the plurality of receptacles is assimilated by each respective spring engagement portion when the plurality of second connectors mate to the plurality of coupled first connectors.

Abstract: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) probe and system designs are disclosed that minimize the effects of mechanical movement and strain to the probe to the OCT analysis. It also concerns optical designs that are robust against noise from the OCT laser source. Also integrated OCT system-probes are included that yield compact and robust electro-opto-mechanical systems along with polarization sensitive OCT systems.

Abstract: A disk drive includes a spindle motor attached to a disk drive base. The spindle motor includes a hub that rotates about a spindle rotation axis. An annular disk is mounted on the hub. A clamp is attached to the hub. The clamp has a body portion that is stamped from a metal sheet. The clamp also includes an annular rib that protrudes from the stamped sheet metal body portion towards the annular disk. The annular rib includes an annular contact surface that may be lapped to enhance flatness and that contacts the annular disk. The annular rib also includes inner and outer side walls that are each normal to the annular contact surface.

Abstract: A ganged electrical connection system includes a plurality of first connectors matable to a plurality of second connectors along mating axes, and a connector position assurance (CPA) member. The CPA member includes a plurality of tabs and a plurality of release fingers. The plurality of first connectors include a plurality of lock arms and the plurality of second connectors include a plurality of inclined ramps. The plurality of tabs receive the plurality of lock arms and the plurality of inclined ramps deflectingly engage said plurality of release fingers to allow movement of the CPA member in to a position of the CPA member, that when disposed in the position, keeps the plurality of second connectors from unmating from the plurality of coupled first connectors. Methods of fabricating an electrical connection system and a ganged electrical connection system that include the CPA member are also presented.

Abstract: A Z culling method, a three-dimensional graphics processing method using Z-culling, and an apparatus thereof are provided. The Z-culling method includes the following steps. A Z cache memory is provided to buffer a cover mask and a dynamic maximum depth value corresponding to each tile. A draw mask, a draw maximum depth value, and a draw minimum depth value calculated according to the tile and a drawn part are obtained. Moreover, whether the drawn part is completely included in a known part of the cover mask is judged, and coordinated with a comparison of the draw minimum depth value and the dynamic maximum depth value, so as to determine whether to discard the drawn part and whether to update the cover mask and the dynamic maximum depth value in the Z cache memory. Accordingly, the bandwidth taken up in the system memory is reduced efficiently.

Abstract: A header for a heat exchanger includes an elongate header plate having a pair of substantially parallel long edges. The header plate includes an elongate slot extending in a first direction across the header plate and a pair of ridges extending in a second direction along the header plate. The second direction is substantially perpendicular to the first direction. Edge regions of the header plate are formed on sides of the ridges adjacent the long edges. At least one of the edge regions lie in a first plane and crests of the ridges lie in a second plane. The first plane is substantially parallel to and offset from the second plane.

Abstract: A method and system for establishing network connectivity with a device is disclosed. A connectivity platform detects a plurality of networks. A network policy of each of the plurality of networks is determined. A signal quality of each of the plurality of networks is determined. The network policy and the signal quality of each of the plurality of networks is analyzed. A connection is established between the device and the first network of the plurality of networks based on the analysis of the network policy and the signal quality of each of the plurality of networks.

Abstract: A fixing device and an image forming apparatus include, in a fixing nip region, a paper-passage region allowing paper to pass through and a non-paper-passage region located at opposite ends of the paper-passage region and not allowing paper to pass through. The non-paper-passage region is provided with a fixing belt movement restricting member arranged at a prescribed distance away from the fixing belt. Even when the fixing belt comes into abutment with the fixing belt movement restricting member, a prescribed gap is formed between the fixing belt and a surface of the holding member that is opposed to the fixing belt, in the paper-passage region.

Abstract: A fixator system includes an active strut that that can be gradually or acutely adjusted. Adjustments can be made in six degrees of freedom. Embodiments of the active strut can provide for two of the six degrees of freedom being about a first common point of rotation, and another two of the six degrees of freedom being about a second common point of rotation. Embodiments of the fixator can include one or more active struts in combination with one or more passive struts. The passive struts can be rigidly locked or can be unlocked so as to be freely and acutely adjustable while gradual or acute adjustments are made using the one or more active struts.

Abstract: A reactor that is operable to produce an isotope includes a region for containing a controlled nuclear fission reaction, the region segmented into a plurality of independent compartments, each of the compartments for containing a parent material in an aqueous solution that interacts with neutrons to produce the isotope via a fission reaction. Also provided are methods of producing an isotope using the same.

Abstract: Some examples include at least one capacitive micro-electro-mechanical transducer (cMUT). For instance, the cMUT may include a substrate, a plate, and a resilient structure therebetween. In some examples, an integrated circuit may be formed on or integrated with the plate or other portion of the cMUT. Furthermore, in some examples, two cMUTs may be arranged in a stacked configuration. For instance, one cMUT may be operable for transmission, while a second cMUT may be operable for reception.

Abstract: A pad structure is suitable for a circuit carrier or an integrated circuit chip. The pad structure includes an inner pad, a conductive via and an outer pad. The conductive via connects the inner pad. The outer pad connects the conductive via and further connects a conductive ball or a conductive bump. The outer diameter of the outer pad is greater than the outer diameter of the inner pad.

Abstract: A system and methods providing for minimizing the arc energy delivered to the pads of a plurality of contactors using a single control coil based on monitoring the electrical sine waves of the three alternating current electrical poles and calculating the instant to energize or deenergize a single control coil. The remainder of the contactors will make or break based on an offset in time from the making or breaking of the control contactor.

Abstract: A computer integral device includes a detection unit for detecting whether an external electronic device is in a determined position, wherein the external electronic device has been turned on; and a computer host, coupled to the detection unit. When the external electronic device is detected to be in the determined position, a power enable signal is sent to the computer host so as to activate the computer host to execute a computer turn on process. After the computer turn on process is executed by the computer host, the external electronic device may display image data received via a wireless communication link established between the computer host and the external electronic device.

Abstract: A camshaft phaser attachment system is provided for attaching a camshaft phaser to a camshaft of an internal combustion engine. The camshaft phaser attachment system includes a camshaft phaser for controllably varying the phase relationship between a crankshaft and the camshaft. The camshaft phaser attachment system also includes a camshaft phaser installation tool having a handle with a head sized to be inserted through an opening of a cover of the camshaft phaser. A plurality of notches formed on a rotor of the camshaft phaser interfit with a plurality of tangs of the head. The head includes a recess on the periphery to provide clearance relative to a bias spring capture flange extending radially inward from the opening. The head also includes a central passage extending through the head to allow a tightening tool to tighten a bolt used to hold the camshaft phaser to the camshaft.

Abstract: An infrastructure “insurance” mechanism enables a Web site to fail over to a content delivery network (CDN) upon a given occurrence at the site. Upon such occurrence, at least some portion of the site's content is served preferentially from the CDN so that end users that desire the content can still get it, even if the content is not then available from the origin site. In operation, content requests are serviced from the site in the usual manner, e.g., by resolving DNS queries to the site's IP address, until detection of the given occurrence. Thereafter, DNS queries are managed by a CDN dynamic DNS-based request routing mechanism so that such queries are resolved to optimal CDN edge servers. After the event that caused the occurrence has passed, control of the site's DNS may be returned from the CDN back to the origin server's DNS mechanism.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided. A plurality of target blur radii are obtained by calculating blur radiuses corresponding to the out of focus transform function between a deblurred datum color channel image and the other color channel images. A plurality of deblurred color channel images are obtained by respectively performing deblurring operations on the original channel images according to the target blur radii that are corresponding to the original channel images. The deblurred datum color channel image and the deblurred color channel images are combined to obtain a blur calibrated image. Accordingly, the image out of focus problem induced by dispersion can be solved.

Abstract: An adaptor may include a body portion and a conduit receptacle. The body portion may include a cross-member and first and second arms extending from the cross-member. The first and second arms may include first and second engagement features, respectively. The conduit receptacle may extend from the cross-member in a direction opposite the first and second arms and may include an aperture and a third engagement feature. The third engagement feature may retain an outer surface of a conduit. The conduit may receive and protect a plurality of wires transmitting electrical power to an electrically powered component.

Abstract: An automatic fault detector momentarily interrupts a provision of operating power to a load having a minimal forward-bias voltage requirement to thereby provide a testing window and then applies a test voltage during this window that is less than the minimal forward-bias voltage requirement to the load and monitors for a power-to-ground fault. By one approach the aforementioned momentarily interruption of power is neither frequent enough nor long enough in duration to substantially impair the provision of power to the load. Accordingly, load performance is not noticeably diminished. One can then responsively prohibit subsequent provision of the operating power to the load. One can then continue to monitor for the power-to-ground fault while continuing to prohibit provision of operating power to the load. If and when the fault disappears, these teachings will then accommodate automatically resuming an ordinary provision of power to the load.
