Abstract: An error checking and correcting (ECC) decoding method and apparatus are provided. A decoding circuit decodes a codeword using (or without using) reference information, wherein when the decoding circuit fails to decode a first codeword, the decoding circuit decodes a second codeword to produce decoded data. The decoding circuit checks whether a change has occurred from each codeword bit of the second codeword to a corresponding bit of the decoded data. In accordance with a bit position of the changed corresponding bit, the decoding circuit correspondingly changes the first codeword to a modified codeword, and/or correspondingly changes the reference information to modified information. The decoding circuit performs the ECC decoding again on the modified codeword (or the first codeword) using (or without using) the modified information.

Abstract: Methods of operating a memory device include comparing input data to data stored in memory cells coupled to a data line, comparing a representation of a level of current in the data line to a reference, and determining that the input data potentially matches the data stored in the memory cells when the representation of the level of current in the data line is less than the reference. Methods of operating a memory device further include comparing input data to first data and to second data stored in memory cells coupled to a first data line or to a second data line, respectively, comparing representations of the levels of current in the first data line and in the second data line to a first reference and to a different second reference, and deeming one to be a closer match to the input data in response to results of the comparisons.

Abstract: An improvement to a prosthetic device which provides a spring member between first and second structural members that are rotatably connected to one another, the spring member providing predictable resistance as it is compressed by the rotation of the first and second structural members with respect to each other. The known resistance of the spring is used as an input to a model controlling a motor control circuit to provide counter-torque as rotational torque is applied to compress the spring.

The lacing system can have a reel comprising a housing, a spool supported by the housing, and a knob supported by the housing. The reel can be configured so that cable is gathered in the channel formed in the spool when the spool is rotated in a first direction relative to the housing, and so that cable can be incrementally released from the spool when the spool is rotated in a second direction relative to the housing. In some embodiments, the reel can include a rotation limiter which can be configured to prevent over-tightening of the lacing system and/or to prevent rotation past the substantially fully loosened state.

Abstract: An optical tracking system comprises a marker part, an image forming part, and a processing part. The marker part includes a pattern having particular information and a first lens which is spaced apart from the pattern and has a first focal length. The image forming part includes a second lens having a second focal length and an image forming unit which is spaced apart from the second lens and forms an image of the pattern by the first lens and the second lens. The processing part determines the posture of the marker part from a coordinate conversion formula between a coordinate on the pattern surface of the pattern and a pixel coordinate on the image of the pattern, and tracks the marker part by using the determined posture of the marker part. Therefore, the present invention can accurately track a marker part by a simpler and easier method.

Abstract: A system may include a prime mover configured to provide mechanical energy to the system by spinning a shaft. The system further includes a synchronous AC generator mechanically coupled to the shaft, and an exciter mechanically coupled to the shaft and configured to output a field current for exciting the synchronous AC generator. The system also includes a number of synchronous electric motors electrically coupled to the AC generator and configured to drive one or more mechanical loads. A controller of the system is configured to establish and maintain a magnetic coupling between the synchronous AC generator and the synchronous electric motors by controlling a level of the field current during a ramped increase in rotation of the synchronous AC generator from zero rotational speed. The motors accelerate synchronously with the generator due to the magnetic coupling as the rotational speed of the generator increases.
