Abstract: A magnetoresistance sensing device includes a substrate, a magnetoresistance sensing unit, and a magnetic field adjusting unit. In response to a first external magnetic field horizontal to a surface of the substrate, the magnetoresistance sensing unit results in a change of an electrical resistance. The magnetic field adjusting unit is used for changing a direction of a second external magnetic field vertical to the surface of the substrate to be consistent with the first external magnetic field, so that the magnetoresistance sensing unit results in a change of the electrical resistance in response to the second external magnetic field. A magnetoresistance sensor includes four magnetoresistance sensing devices, which are arranged in a Wheatstone bridge. An output voltage of the Wheatstone bridge is not altered as the first external magnetic field is changed, but the output voltage of the Wheatstone bridge is altered as the second external magnetic field is changed.

Abstract: Fluctuation in speed when a stage with a sample mounted thereon is moved at low speed is reduced such that an image to be observed is moved at constant speed when performing high-magnification observation using a scanning electron microscope. A control amount is obtained by compensation means from the deviation between position information obtained from position information detected by position detection means through a first low-pass filter and a command value obtained by integrating a speed command value input from stage operation input means and through a second low-pass filter having the same frequency characteristic as the first low-pass filter, and a driving signal to be output to driving means is generated from the added value of the control amount and the speed command value by waveform output means.

  • Publication number: 20130085727
Abstract: Methods and systems for numerically simulating structural behaviors of embedded bi-materials are disclosed. At least first and second grid models are created independently for an embedded bi-material that contains an immersed material embedded entirely within a base material. First group of meshfree nodes represents the entire domain (i.e., base plus immersed materials). Second group of meshfree nodes represents the immersed or embedded material, which includes all interface nodes and nodes located within a space bordered by the material interface. Numerical structural behaviors of the embedded bi-material are simulated using the first and second set of meshfree nodes with a meshfree method that combines two meshfree approximations. The first meshfree approximation covers the first set of meshfree nodes and is based on properties of the base material, while the second meshfree approximation covers the second set of meshfree nodes and is based on a differential between the immersed and base materials.

  • Publication number: 20130081805
Abstract: This invention provides a method for characterizing natural fracture networks or other textural networks in an Earth formation when using microseismic monitoring of a hydraulic fracturing job. The method comprises receiving (120) microseismic data from a hydraulic fracturing event, identifying a data subset (153) comprising components of the microseismic data associated with the one or more hydraulic fractures; and obtaining a remainder dataset (156) of the microseismic data by removing the subset from the microseismic data. One approach for identifying the data subset, after removing high uncertainty microseismic events, is to create a Voronoi diagram of a plurality of cells each associated with one of the microseismic events, determine a density for each cell, create a connectivity matrix of the high density cells and identify event clusters in the connectivity matrix which are aligned with a main growing direction of the hydraulic fracture.

Abstract: A method and system for autonomous channel coordination for a wireless distribution system (WDS) are disclosed. A wireless communication system includes a plurality of access points (APs) and the APs communicate each other via a WDS. A coordinated channel group (CCG) of a plurality of member APs is established. The member APs of the CCG camp on a WDS channel used for the WDS among the member APs of the CCG. One AP among the member APs of the CCG is designated as a master AP. The master AP coordinates with other member APs of the CCG for selecting and configuring the WDS channel for the CCG and addition and deletion of member APs. By allowing APs to define a CCG, changes of the WDS channel are performed autonomously while maintaining connectivity.
