Abstract: A method is disclosed for tuning a beamformed signal in wireless communications including a plurality of sub-carriers and a plurality of eigenbeams. The method includes adjusting a total gain of each of the plurality of sub-carriers and eigenbeams, and applying the adjusted total gain to each of the sub-carriers and each of the eigenbeams.

Abstract: A statistical methodology is disclosed to provide time-to-event estimates for oilfield equipment. A method according to the present invention extracts unbiased information from equipment performance data and considers parameters interactions without recourse to data thinning. The analysis explicitly accounts for items of equipment that are still operational at the time of analysis. A method according to the present invention may also be utilized to apply survival analysis to any oilfield equipment components where time-to-event information has been recorded. The method of the present invention allows comparative reckoning between different components present in the system comprising several or many individual components and allows analysis of these components either individually or simultaneously, i.e., in the presence of other components.

Abstract: A package substrate includes a core board having a through hole; a circuit layer formed on the core board; a metallic ring disposed on the core board surrounding a contour of the through hole, the metallic ring having opening portions positioned opposite to each other, making the metallic ring having a disconnected manner; and an embedded component installed in the through hole. Abstract: Protein identification in a complex sample begins by selecting a database having proteins likely to be in the sample. In-silico digestion is performed and a target peptide is selected from produced peptides. The masses of the Y- and B-ion fragments of the target peptide are determined. These masses are used to search previously obtained low- and high-energy AMRTs obtained from LC/MS analysis of the complex sample for masses on the list. Any mass observed in the data within a detection threshold are considered a hit. If enough hits accumulate in a given retention time, the target peptide is identified as being in the sample. The list of peptides identified in the complex sample can be used to identify the proteins present in the sample, track the chromatographic retention times of peptides between samples, and quantitate the peptides and proteins present in complex samples.

Abstract: A method and wireless multi-cell communication system for providing high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) services. The system includes a radio network controller (RNC) in communication with a plurality of base stations. The RNC sends a control signal to at least one base station having a plurality of timeslots, e.g., in a time division duplex (TDD) system and/or frames including transmission timing intervals (TTIs), e.g., in a frequency division duplex (FDD) system assigned thereto for the establishment of HSDPA channels. The control signal indicates a maximum allowed HSDPA transmit power for each of the timeslots and/or TTIs. The base station sends a feedback signal to the RNC indicating the results of measurements of the power of the transmitted HSDPA timeslots and/or TTIs during a predetermined time period.
Abstract: A mixer in an RF demodulator includes a transconductance amplifier that converts an RF input voltage (Vin), applied to the base of a first bipolar transistor, to a first output current. The first output current contains third order intermodulation (IM3) products. An IM3 canceller is connected in parallel with the transconductance amplifier. The base of a second bipolar transistor in the IM3 canceller is coupled to the DC component of Vin, and the AC component of Vin is coupled to the emitter of the second bipolar transistor, such that the currents though the first bipolar transistor and the currents through the second bipolar transistor change oppositely. The collectors of the transistors are coupled together. The values of components in the IM3 canceller are set so that the current generated by the IM3 canceller substantially cancels IM3 distortion in the first current or other current generated in a demodulator of Vin.
Abstract: There is provided a biomagnetic field measurement apparatus capable of carrying out exact positioning work and highly sensitive signal detection. To bring a sensor surface close to a body surface while the sensor surface and the body surface are kept parallel, a cryostat is constructed so as to be capable of oscillating and expanding and contracting. A gantry is formed by three supports. A first support is a portal support that supports the whole of the gantry. A second support is supported on the first support, and is rotatable with a first direction being the axis. A third support is supported on the second support, and is movable in the axial direction of the cryostat as viewed from the second support. The cryostat is supported on the third support, and moves integrally with the third support.
Abstract: A technique is provided for improving the efficiency of a centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump comprises diffusers that optimize the area schedule through the diffuser to diffuse the total fluid velocity and recover dynamic head while minimizing flow separation. Each diffuser comprises an improved transition from the diffuser blade into the diffuser discharge duct to remove abrupt changes in area and to reduce fluid separation. The impellers also can be constructed with impeller transitions able to reduce fluid separation and improve the efficiency of the pump.
Abstract: Hybrid elements that enable coupling effects between SPH particles and FEM solid are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, hybrid elements are configured to facilitate coupling effect of solid element based on finite element method (FEM) and one or more corresponding particles based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH). Hybrid elements are defined in a computer aided engineering (CAE) grid model as a buffer or interface between the SPH particles and FEM solids. For example, a portion of the grid model comprises SPH particles because the likelihood of enduring large deformation, while the rest of the model comprises FEM solid elements. Hybrid elements are placed between the solids and the particles. Each hybrid element comprises two layers: solid layer and particle layer.

In some examples, the system includes a charging device, such as a docking station. The charging device may couple to the portable device to charge the portable device. The charging device may include a capacitive power supply, which may comprise one or more capacitors, such as supercapacitors. In some cases, the system flash charges the capacitive power supply within the portable device, via the capacitive power supply of the charging device.
