  • Patent number: 11697181
Abstract: Structures for a tool surface of a downhole tool are constructed from a metal clay molded in a wet state. The wet state clay is a workable combination that can have a braze alloy grain, a tungsten carbide grain, and a binder. Additional cutting inserts can be embedded in the molded clay. Heat treatment applied to the molded metal clay causing the binder to be combusted and consumed. The braze alloy melts and then cools into a fused state with the tungsten carbide grain therein. The structure can affix to the tool surface of the tool by first being fused and then attached by brazing to the tool. Alternatively, the structure can be positioned in a fusible state adjacent the tool surface. When the heat treatment is applied, the structure fuses together and forms a metallurgical bond with the tool surface of the tool.

  • Patent number: 11692858
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for hydrocarbon monitoring are provided. A method that may be performed by a flowmeter or monitoring system includes receiving downhole measurements of a flowing fluid from a flowmeter; determining a standard phase fraction of the flowing fluid based on the downhole measurements from the flowmeter; receiving surface measurements of the flowing fluid; determining a surface phase fraction of the flowing fluid based on the surface measurements; comparing the standard phase fraction to the surface phase fraction; based on the comparison being greater than a predetermined threshold, using the surface measurements as a reference to adjust a speed of sound (SoS) of a first phase until a target value is achieved; and receiving additional downhole measurements of the flowing fluid from the flowmeter, wherein the flowmeter is operating using the adjusted SoS of the first phase.

  • Patent number: 11674101
Abstract: This invention provides processes and systems for converting biomass into high carbon biogenic reagents that are suitable for a variety of commercial applications. Some embodiments employ pyrolysis in the presence of an inert gas to generate hot pyrolyzed solids, condensable vapors, and non-condensable gases, followed by separation of vapors and gases, and cooling of the hot pyrolyzed solids in the presence of the inert gas. Additives may be introduced during processing or combined with the reagent, or both. The biogenic reagent may include at least 70 wt %, 80 wt %, 90 wt %, 95 wt %, or more total carbon on a dry basis. The biogenic reagent may have an energy content of at least 12,000 Btu/lb, 13,000 Btu/lb, 14,000 Btu/lb, or 14,500 Btu/lb on a dry basis. The biogenic reagent may be formed into fine powders, or structural objects. The structural objects may have a structure and/or strength that derive from the feedstock, heat rate, and additives.

  • Publication number: 20230178755
Abstract: A static battery with a non-conductive elastomeric or thermoplastic housing. The, battery housing is adapted to receive at least one anode assembly, at least one cathode assembly, and at least one bipolar electrode assembly. At least the bipolar electrode assembly is formed from a conductive plastic resin that is formed as a CPE sheet. A carbon material is affixed to the CPE sheet to form the bipolar electrode. The at least one cathode assembly, the at least one anode assembly and the at least one bipolar electrode assembly are received into the battery box such that a liquid, and/or gas seal is formed, between electrode assemblies. The battery housing has slots into which the electrode assemblies are received. When the electrode assemblies are received into the housing, cells are formed by the cooperation of the electrode assemblies and the battery housing. The cells are then filled with electrolyte such as zinc bromide and a lid is placed on the battery box.

  • Publication number: 20230179859
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that provide a “best” picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the “shutter” button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a “best” image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.
