Patent number: 9417689Abstract: Systems and approaches are provided for robustly determining the motion of a computing device. Multiple cameras on the device can each capture a sequence of images, and the images can be analyzed to determine motion of the device with respect to a user, an object, or scenery captured in the images. The estimated motion may be complemented with measurements from an inertial sensor such as a gyroscope or an accelerometer to provide more accurate estimations of device motion than can be provided by image data or inertial sensor data alone. A computing device can then be configured to detect device motion as user input such as to navigate a user interface or to remotely control movement of another electronic device.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2013Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Sharadh Ramaswamy

Patent number: 9419841Abstract: In some implementations, tokens that are representative of sensitive data may be used in place of the sensitive data to maintain the security of the sensitive data. For example, data may be separated into sensitive data and nonsensitive data, and at least the sensitive data is securely delivered to a data storage service. The data storage service generates a token that is representative of the sensitive data and stores the sensitive data as secure data. The data storage service may deliver the token to an entity that also receives the nonsensitive data, and the entity may use the token in place of the sensitive data. In some implementations, different tokens are generated each time the same piece of sensitive data is submitted for storage as secure data. Further, in some implementations, access policies define authorizations regarding which entities are able to resolve a token to access the actual sensitive data.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2011Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jonathan Kozolchyk, Darren E. Patent number: 9418353Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for delivery of tailored content to differentiated devices, such as desktop, mobile, and tablet devices, over a computer network. In one embodiment, a proxy cache server has a content cache for storing previously retrieved objects like web pages or multimedia files. For at least some objects, several versions are stored, each version representing an object suited for a given set of client device characteristics. A device-equivalency data structure maintained at the proxy facilitates a determination of whether such cached versions can be used to service a current request. The versions might represent, for example, modified versions created using, e.g., mobile device transcoding techniques, in response to prior requests. They may also represent a set of alternate content created by a content provider and available from an origin server. Such methods and systems may be implemented in a distributed computing networks, e.g., a content delivery network.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2011Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: AKAMAI TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Martin T. Patent number: 9420058Abstract: Stream-based data deduplication is provided in a multi-tenant shared infrastructure but without requiring “paired” endpoints having synchronized data dictionaries. Data objects processed by the dedupe functionality are treated as objects that can be fetched as needed. As such, a decoding peer does not need to maintain a symmetric library for the origin. Rather, if the peer does not have the chunks in cache that it needs, it follows a conventional content delivery network procedure to retrieve them. In this way, if dictionaries between pairs of sending and receiving peers are out-of-sync, relevant sections are then re-synchronized on-demand. The approach does not require that libraries maintained at a particular pair of sender and receiving peers are the same. Rather, the technique enables a peer, in effect, to “backfill” its dictionary on-the-fly. On-the-wire compression techniques are provided to reduce the amount of data transmitted between the peers.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2013Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Akamai Technologies, Inc.Inventors: F. Patent number: 9420378Abstract: A top port MEMS microphone package includes a substrate having a back volume expanding aperture therein. A MEMS microphone electronic component is mounted to the substrate directly above the back volume expanding aperture such that an aperture of the MEMS microphone electronic component is in fluid communication with the back volume expanding aperture. A lid having a lid cavity is mounted to the substrate. The back volume expanding aperture couples the aperture of the MEMS microphone electronic component to the lid cavity. By coupling the lid cavity to the aperture with the back volume expanding aperture, the resulting back volume is essentially the size of the entire top port MEMS microphone package. In this manner, the noise to signal ratio is minimized thus maximizing the sensitivity of the top port MEMS microphone package as well as the range of applications.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2010Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Amkor Technology, Inc.Inventors: Ahmer Raza Syed, Bob Shih-Wei Kuo, Louis B.
