    Abstract: An active non-lethal infrasound system for denying all bird species access to critical areas, particularly in areas around aircraft and other high value systems. The system comprises a plurality of infrasound generators broadcasting continuous infrasonic signals to create a bird-free infrasound active zone within the perimeters of the protected critical area and an infrasound-free dead zones for birds being denied access to the critical areas. Further, an active infrasonic barrier is assembled within an exclusion area surrounding the bird-free infrasound active zone to dampen all low frequency sound waves emanating from the critical area and its perimeters. Wherever the situation allows, a wildlife sanctuary is preferably established further from the exclusion area to attract and protect birds, enforced by broadcasting infrasound signals that simulate natural sounds that attract species typical of the geographic location.

    Abstract: A roasting oven includes an enclosure coupled to a source of microwave RF energy, an operable door for sealing the enclosure for RF, the operable door having a viewing aperture which prevents the escape of RF from inside the chamber. A rotating support has an axis which is perpendicular to the viewing aperture such that the progress of roasting may be viewed through the viewing aperture and into a food container placed in the rotating support. The applied power of the microwave RF source and the rotational velocity of the rotating support are selected to provide uniform or wide spectrum roasting of the food item. A roasting profile may include a roasting interval during which the microwave RF source and rotating support are both energized, and subsequently a cool-down interval where the microwave RF source is disabled and the rotating support continues to rotate.

The containers or animals are weighed, identified and then directed through a specially constructed shielded holding area, wherein multiple radiation detectors measure the radiation level for the containers or animal in the pen. A microprocessor analyzes the data information and provides a respective output for each container or animal which in turn is compared with predetermined standards and input information. The particular reading per container or each animal monitored actuates controls to segregate the containers or animals by those having acceptable and non-acceptable levels of radiation.     Abstract: Both a system and method are provided for purifying contaminated raw water into potable water by freezing. The system of the invention includes an ice grid having heat exchange surfaces that define cavities for producing ice solids having a surface to volume ratio no greater than 25 to 1, a refrigeration unit for indirectly cooling the heat exchange surfaces to at least the freezing point of the raw water, and an array of spray nozzles that continuously flows raw water over the cavities of the ice grid such that ice solids form from substantially pure water incrementally built up from the heat exchange surfaces of the grid to ultimately fill the grid cavities. The raw water is frozen slowly enough so that unfrozen contaminants expelled from the incrementally freezing ice are continuously washed away from the surface of the growing ice by a continuously raw water flow.
